How difficult would it be to up the displacement from 2.0? Are the crank and con rods in the turbo motor upgraded over the naturally aspirated ecotecs? Turbo and non-turbo blocks the same?
Is the additional displacement of the 2.2/2.4 achieved with bigger bore, stroke, or both? If it is via bigger bore, would gasket sealing be a problem because there is not enough material between bores to hold a gasket?

the 2.4 is a different block, using a bigger bore. the 2.0 can be made a 2.2 with the 2.2 crank, seeing as how they are the same bore, only different strokes. but to make a LNF a 2.4.... well it probably cant be done. you cant bore it out enough to equal the bore on a 2.4

why not a stroker? 2.0 block, 2.4 crank 2.3 stroker? I dont know much about these blocks or wether the cranks would be interchangeable.

im pretty sure the 2.4 crank will fit in the 2.0. and it would be roughly 2.3 L. theoretically. but then youd have to make sure the crank wont force the piston (with the factory 2.0 con rod) up into the head. which im pretty sure it would.

id keep the 2.0 a 2.0. old muscle cars could swap parts, and up the dsiplacement, etc, etc. but these newer engines arent really setup to be doing that kind of thing... besides the 2.0 is a good, solid, square engine. and i wouldnt even begin to think what it would cost for a 2.4 crank... those arent dime a dozen or anything..

2.0L ecotec = 86mm X 86mm
2.2L ecotec = 86mm X 94.6mm
2.4L ecotec = 88mm X 98mm

The pistons would probably make it hard to up the bore.

Makes 500hp 550tq

In '05, after I bought my LSJ, I got to talk with the GM Perf. Engine techs at a meet at Lordstown. At that time, the 2.0 block was a special high-precision casting that was only made in Germany, unlike the others. The techs also said that the 1200HP drag cars all used the 2.0 block because it is the strongest.
The Crank, Rods and Pistons of the LSJ and LNF are much stronger than those in the others.

It would be great if you could just get a 2.4 block and bolt all the 2.0 parts (head, etc.) onto it, but there is no doubt that the 2.4 internals are weaker.
To do it right, I think you'd have to get a custom forged 2.4 crank and pistons made. and probably forged rods too. And does the 2.4 have the oil spray to the underside of the pistons?
It all comes down to money; I think it would cost way more than it would be worth. Just my 2 cents.

Originally yes...the 06's had it...then a revision(for costs) caused them to go away after 06

Just stick with the 2.0 everything is already forged and the comp ratio is 9.2-1 which is crazy for a turbo car to begin with
