The two oval slots on the output plate are air leakage ports. Their only purpose is to decrease operational noise from the blower. Arnie, from Eaton Corp., explains their function like this, "When you stomp on the gas, the boost shoots up and the air flow goes supersonic. The air then slams back into the output plate and through the leakage slots, which reduces the hammering of the air into the housing causing less noise. The OEM can not have such loud NVH, that’s why we put them in the housing. The 2 small ports are not there to feed air, only to reduce noise." Basically, for the best flow and most efficiency, these ports can be blocked off, making the outlet port (triangle slot) the only port on the outlet plate of the housing. Closing these ports will not increase IAT's; however, it will make the supercharger much louder when in boost. As an example, aftermarket supercharger companies, such as Harrop, Roush and Magnuson do not use these slots in their blowers.

Oh... and I checked my Plugs too a while back.

It would probably be from that vent tube that connects from the Valve Cover to the Intake... but I doubt it. My throttle body was nasty as hell at 50k... the outlet of my S/C wasn't really phased... maybe a little bit of discoloration... but nothing THAT extreme.

JB Weld = ****

Quicksteel = Awesome

I've said it a million times and don't feel like saying it again. Just trust that Quicksteel is awesome. I've seen someone plug a hole in their block with Quicksteel... successfully (it almost lasted 10,000 miles... until the rod put a larger hole in the block ).

... if quicksteel is so awsome he should have been able to get more and plug the hole again and keep going

Nice,

I plugged my silencers holes and started a new thread about it on RLFs and most of the tupperware owners freaked! Most of them don't understand that there are other forums with intelligent members working on the LSJ.

Noone had heard of doing this because they never do any research and are content to discuss GM Stage 2 prices and fuel economy all day long.

Out of the 25+ people I have found who have done this only 1 of them had problems and it was because they used JB Weld. I have not found one person who used Quick Steel and ran into problems...

Thanks for the update.

You should polish the tops of the fins on the s/c.
And like above me, why the hell is it bronze colored?

i have a awesome digital camera, trust me it dosent look that bad to the naked eye...

i noticed it mostly after i started spraying meth with orange food coloring in the mix to match my car... its more orange than brown, but it does have a oily feel to it? deff not from the valve cover breather cuz then it would be in the intake which it is not, and i cant see it being blowby cause i have 14xxx mi on my car and i never ever burn or lose oil, i do routine compression, and leak bown tests (the mechanic in me makes me do it all the time, every oil change which is every 2000 mi)

but yeah if any one has any other suggestion of what or how or why it would be there id love to hear...

Still ebristol you have to admit it's kind of a big risk to take for a sound modification (ie scare the hell out of pedestrians). But I guess if it stands 5k miles it should be good to go. With a 2.7 that must sound like the world's going to end.

Wait...here's a question...why do people who do port/polish of s/c's tend to increase the silencer holes? (ie stagemeier, others)...if it's only to dampen sound there's no performance reason to increase the size of these holes.

Why do you spray orange meth? What exactly does that do to your exhaust (nothing I'm guessing)
