Coilover Fiasco
Coilover Fiasco
well, the coilover install that should have taken an hour and a half tops, started at 9am and finally ended at 2pm sunday. special thanks to RooTBeeR, otherwhise these never would have gone on. that and i let the driver's side rotating assembly drop and the CV joint fell apart, but it's all back together now, and for future reference to anyone that might do that in the future, there is a c-clip inside that holds the axle shaft into the joint cup.

Rear:

the rear needs to coem down a little, but when i bring it in to get aligned and the suspension tuned at the end of the week, they'll even it all out. Thanks to Remedy One for the awesome deal

haha, yes, jimbo you already knew that
i may have to get koni rear shocks becaue these k-sports aren't adjustable, and i can tell, especially on the freeway, but the front doesn't feel too much different except that it's lower. it feels like a go-cart when i turn now.

yeah, i love them so far. question though, when i turn pretty sharp at low speeds i get a clunck like the spring is binding and then releasing a bit. do i need to throw a little lube in there someplace?
i used to have that too, i put some oil in the bearings for the pillowball camber plates.
haha, no i still have to see Iron Man, and i think me and my bro are going to see Step Brothers.

i just dripped some lubricating oil in, i'll see if that helps, and i plan on swinging by superautobachs for the suspension tune friday. i'll post better pics of the final result, because right now i'm pretty sure the camber is way off. the passenger pillow mount is in the center, and the driver's side is way off to the outside.
yeah, i'll keep you all updated. when i get the koni's i'll let you all know how those work out also.

FYI....
If you would like to lower the rears further.
Get rid of the cup with the adjustment rings on it beneath the springs. It isn't necessary (I only use it on track days to raise the rears up high).
I'm sure the fronts have plenty more play in them to lower them further.

nice good looking balt...how was the fitment on the springs in the rear..there was fitment issues with the ksports at one point..cause i will be getting this soon cause my front struts are done
Sorry im on the BC sport coilovers... mine are on the bottom... thought they may be universal placement for all cobalt/redline coilover setups.
haha, yeah, i'm going to have a shop tune it, and get everything even and the camber correct. the adjusters wouldn't even fit on the bottom the way they sit inside the spring.

I'd honestly jack the car up and start tinkering w/ it... the rears are absolute cake to work on...(just unbolt the bottom shock bolt and whala!) the fronts are even easier to adjust.
good luck, post up more pix when your fully adjusted!
