Update on my Purchase Today

Got some news guys. I went to the dealership today and they couldn't find me a rally yellow with LSD, Sunroof, and High Rise spoiler.

So after some long discussion with my mother, I was convinced to put an order in for a 2009, Rally Yellow, Limited Slip Diffy, Sunroof, High Rise Spoiler, Ebony/Ebony. Dealer said it is being assembled at the Lake Orion, Michigan plant last week of August, delivered NO LATER then 2nd week of september.

My father is 32 year worker of GM, and he said that it would probably be here days after being assembled because Lake Orion is only about 2 1/2 hours from the dealership I ordered it at.

I figure what I lose on rebates, I will EVENTUALLY make up for one day years down the road when I go to sell a 2009 (last year for cobalts??) so yeah. I figured for an 09 coupe, I would be waiting for months.. well into fall. I can wait 6 weeks for an 09.

P.S. I am geeked to have that new heads up display or whatever. I need to go research that right now, I haven't been paying attention as well as I should have to it.

Im stoked!

Nope, My father was shocked, he actually asked the dealer if they were still making them there. Lake Orion plant here in SE Michigan I guess is pumpin a few out. My dad said he knows a few guys who recently transferred down to that plant and are helping make the cobalts there now.

And also I feel kinda dumb because in all the fray of deciding IN THE DEALERSHIP today that I wanted an 09 instead of the 08 like I originally planed, I forgot to tell the dealer to put that Reconfigurable Performance Display on as an option!!!! *FACEPALM* So obviously my 09 can handle it and its just a computer so not much assembly really(Like I know if you don't order a high rise wing for 150$, its like 600$ OEM cuz they have to paint it and **** they said.

So my question is, how much is one of these displays going to cost me OEM ya think to just plug into my 09? I heard its a 295$ option so should I be expecting to pay much more then that to just order the display unit individually? Maybe wiring/harnessing is an issue? Robot prolly does it?

On rebates what you lost them? Here in boston area there is $1500 in rebates. If I order one instead of buying one off the lot I lose the rebates? I am looking for a silver with LSD only. Nothing else. no nothing. This would bring the price to $22K w/rebate. I was also going to try to get at least $1000 to $500 off the 22K. I maybe wrong, but lets see in the winter time what they have in my area & end of the month times?

On chevys web site they have the SS at 5.9% APR. I think my bank does the same for my. I did a pre-qualify thing just to see where I stand. I going to post the correct one. I'm going to the bank today.

I think you can call the dealer up and ask them to add the RPD option, it shouldn't be too late yet.

At least call them, worst comes to worst they say no.

Rebates are on 08 models, not 09's.

Order an 09, lose the rebate (GM calls it "Chevy Model Year End Event - The Last Of the 2008's are Rolling Out") .

As far as getting more off the sticker, good luck with that if you can get it. Where I live, turnaround on SS/T's has been less than 7 days.

With a sales rate like that, it's gonna be hard to bargain. Also, I wouldn't be so sure of the RPD as being a "plug in" item either.

Thanks
I think the sales turn around time in the middle of winter will be higher when there is a foot on snow falling. this is what I'm tring for anyways. Maybe presidents days? Or 1 of those days GM needs cash sale?

RPD is this a replacement for the boost gauge? Or is this a totally a seprate gauge all together? If seprate where does it go?
I just want silver w/LSD ONLY & low wing. taking off the emblems for weight reduction & seat covers to hide the SS on the seats. I just hope I blend in with all the normal cars

UAF is the performance reconfigurable display. call them and have them add that and the UAI usb input. the 400 more bucks for both of these you will love them, they should be the reason why you went with the 09 IMO. and they're NO rebates on 09MY FYI.

also, for boston boy. the low-rise spoiler is RPO code T43.

My dad said they should be able to, since the order was just placed yesterday and the assembly date is not till end of august. He said at this point, its still pretty informal. HappY!

from what Ive read cobalts will not end in 09. GM will still keep making them for a couple more years
along side the cruz.

Yeah I read this too, forgot that. Might be right. But I do remember now reading that they will be phased out along side the Cruze.... maybe an 2011 kill-date?

Would someone please explain the obsession with debadging. It doesn't deter cops, he'll just know you're a jackass street racing wannabe. And it doesn't make your car a "sleeper", it comes out of the factory a sleeper! It's a friggin' Cobalt and it does 0-60 in five-and-a-half. It doesn't get anymore sleeper than that.

I can understand if it's done for aesthetics, but it's a stretch even then. I guess I just don't get kids these days.

I did the same thing when I was younger, so I understand their zeal to mod. But the older I get, the more adamant I've been in keeping my car cars stock/warrantied.

My Stage 2 was dealer installed, and I have no intention whatsoever in touching my car's appearance.

Now I'm NOT saying that the SS/SC will ever be a collectible (so please don't accuse me of that!).

But I did take notice of how with older cars, that the "numbers matching" vehicles are incredibly more valuable than those that were "modded".
