Did you know?

So I was at the dealership today getting my 08 TC fixed and I talked to the manager in the parts department and he said if I give him a list of companies that make after market performance parts for the 08 TC they can install them and I can keep my 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. He told me as long as they do the install work its all good. As any one ever done this before?

The guy is an idiot. There are plenty of service managers that don't know the legal ramifications of the BS they spout...

f-him that is how it gets out of it. Tell him you like him to be on film saying it & he states who he is & where he works & everything is still warranty.
I still would feel like he is BS me.

I know I it sound like BS but they was a guy there that was getting some work gone to his 08 TrailBlazer. He had them install lowering springs and air bags. The Manager was telling me that if they install the parts the parts have their own warranty. Yet if you car or truck has problems later one they can't say it was due to the after market parts installed. They offer this as a option. So they can't take your warranty. So if you give them a K&N intake for the car and say install this for me they can't take your warranty.

The dealership near me offers to do aftermarket parts installs, bit only AFTER the warranty has expired.

Keep in mind guy Im talking about bolt-on's. They are not going to do any internal engin work or trans work. Air intakes, down pips, lowers sperings that stuff. I just got off the phone with the Manager and he said that the most they will do is up grading the turbo.

the dealership is not the one who warrentees the cars, gm does. so if the dealership is going to give you a warrentee for the aftermarket crap and gm denys a warrentee claim for a problem that means the dealership will have to foot the bill for the broke car, he may mean well but as soon as gm starts making him pay for **** because he wants to get more money by installing aftermarket parts that **** the cars up his tune will change real quick

i swear this is the most debated topic ever...
so i called my dealer talked to parts...will not install any non gm after market parts...
talked to service department...she said that after market performance parts would not automatically void the warranty...
but if a after market part, caused the failure of a gm part...the warranty would still be there only it wouldnt
cover the damaged part affected by the non gm part...
so i will take there word for it and change the simple...rotors...maybe a cai ...down pipe...well when parts become available i should say...

There is a dealer here in Phoenix that will do the same exact thing. They will honestly cover everything under warranty, but you do have to go back to them for the repairs to maintain the warranty. Just get it in writing like they do here.

i know i will change some things for sure...but i will let the car rack up some miles make sure theres no problems...
give it some time,so if any bugs do come out they are fixed for free...
once solidly broken in and problem free thats when the serious upgrades may begin...

I know I wouldn't have a dealer install sheeit. But when I bought my Z28 new in 1995 the dealer I bought it from had Dean of Sport Trucks by Dean fame lower the car with Eibach springs. It had a sticker on each side of the rear window that said Sports Cars by Dean. Never had an issue with warrenty, then again nothiing on the suspension failed.

It's the regional service manager that you have to worry about . The service manager at the dealer can tell you what you want to hear , but when the **** hits the fan the regional guy will leave you butt hurt.
