Mostly heard that the dot section can be covered in black vinyl and looks fine

Tint is always inside. The dots your talking about would be the rear window defrogger. Almost every car has one and it tints just fine.

Mine had a little trouble sticking to the dot matrix. It's really not a big issue tho. I know its there but it's hardly noticeable unless your right on top of the rear window.

mine isn't tinted there......you don't notice it unless your right on it, then you have to really look. You don't notice it from the inside either...
someone mentioned that the tinter could use elmers glue, blue, under the tint. thats an option...

the vinyl is the best way to go. Also remember the darker the tint the more the imperfections will show.

I just had them tint over the dot. I didnt want to end the tint. You can see a lil air in my dot matrix but I really dont mind it. You could paint the dot matrix on the inside or cover it with vinyl on the outside.

If you don't mind losing your defoggers you can sand them off and the tint will look perfect. This is how most show cars do it.

You gotta be careful if you do sand them cause you can really eff up the glass if you dont know what your doing. They dont defrost your windows by the way. Only the middle sections in the rear window do that. Not the dot matrix.

Those dots have absolutely nothing to do with the rear window defogger/defroster. They can be sanded with sandpaper. You have to sand them down as much as possible but don't scratch the glass. The window tint (film not paper) can be installed and an adhesive can be used to aid in securing the dotted portion. I had my rear glass done in this fashion and it looks fine from the inside, but from the outside you can see a difference. It suits me fine though; serves the purpose I want.

I've had no problems with my tint. Limo tint and it covered all the dots in the back. They did a clean install. When I go see my car in storage tomorrow I will post pictures for you. BTW only 17 more days till my car comes out of storage

Just got my windows tinted, and the dot part looks pretty bad.
He said he could cut it there, to where theres no tint over the dot, you can see where theres air at the top and all around the sides wheever there is dots. I'm gonna give it a few days for FL heat to set it in & try to take a Credit card and do it better. Anyone have pictures of how it looks with vinyl at the top, or nothing at all?
Thanks.

Do not use sand paper to take off the dots. You will badly scatch your window. There is some sort of abrassive buffing gel that glass installers use that can buff scrathes out of the glass. Thsi gel will also take of the dots too. I have no idea where this stuff can be purchased thouhg. YOu might have to work soemthign out with your local glass guy to get it.
