custom exhaust questions

ok so i noticed there are 2 different options

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...GNAFLOW/Detail

with this one how would it sound without a resonator?

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail

with this one would u have to cut out the piping for the resonator?
and just weld on the muffler?

bump my threads always get buried

the first link is to an actual complete aftermarket exhaust, the 2nd is just for the tubing, youll need to get the flanges, gaskets, muffler, tip, even a resonator if wanted.

without the resonator you will get the raspiness at higher rpms I have it now I don't have a resonator, and it'll be much louder!

I can live with it for now, but I will have a resonator in it shortly!

so ur saying the magnaflow one is worth it for the money instead of paying 550-600 for the stainless or even 380 for the megan

depends on what kind of sound you want

if you want loud, get a megan or magnaflow without a resonator

if you want quiet, get a resonator and get a more restricted muffler

also, bigger pipe = louder

There was also a discussion about this... the metal used is aluminized and it rusts in wet climates if i remember correctly.

hmm, now that ive read more into the SS vs. Aluminized metal i think i might have a chagne in plans for which exhaust i am getting...I was planning on getting 2.5" custom mandrel piping with magnaflow muffler but the piping being aluminzed for a total of $375 installed...Now that i know aluminized isnt the best option to go since i live in NY with all the wet weather, salt in the winter, plus one of my jobs that i go to 4 days a week is about 2 miles away(read aluminized would be better for longer trips not shorter), then i really think i should be going SS with the exhaust....

Ill do some more research but right now i think i might have to go with the Megan since its SS, the cheapest, and i dont mind a loud exhaust.

just dont go over a 2.5" if your non-supercharged and non-turbocharged.

it might actually hurt you more than help you because your car likes back pressure.

So do you think it would be better to order a bolt on kit or go down to a local shop and have have a whole system welded up if I make sure to get a good quality muffler

save the money and get some 2.5" tubing, decent muffler, nice tip, and a 2 bolt flange, dont forget the gasket.

thats what i bought, from someone else, but you save money, alot of it. i went with a hooker muffler and the GM rolled tip.

if you have the money and dont wanna **** with it, buy the megan or magnaflow

if you dont have the money, and can find a decent exhaust shop, some tubing, a muffler (check ebay), then get a custom one

if you steel get it coated to prevent rust...if you go stainless...hell good for you, stainless is the way to go for exhaust...dont rust, looks sexy when heated...just m ake sure to clean it before turing it on, or any fingerprint u left will be permanantly burned onto it...
