My New Car!

Well, i bought my girlfriends old car which is a 1998 chevy cavalier for $1000. Car has 146k and the engine and tranny are LIKE NEW. this is going to last awhile. Figured it would be a good car to work/learn stuff on and also a DD for winter/rainy days Its the Ugliest color ever, gold. Anyway it was having anti-theft lock issues along with wireing as my idiot lights would go on and off randomly. Dealer couldnt find the problem they said they traced all the wires and found nothing. $220 later... Still having the same problems. i know they didnt trace ****, because if they traced the wires, they would have found the 3 wires that were poorly twisted togehter under the battery in the harness going towards the headlights...also, this GIANT GND that was not connected and it has about 10 wires going to it......

Before all this happened, her low beams stopped working, took it to a local shop and they found that wires were corroded and they "replaced" them. After that day, ive been having all these problems that i mentioned above and they refused to look at it and blamed it on my cd player install... Anyways, After replacing the PCM, fixing the wires and cleaning/reconnecting that GND 5 ing cycles and no lights or weird sounds. HORRAY!

Onto the pics.

I debadged it front and rear...i DONT want to spend money on this but the BUG arggg... im thinking new headlights and a intake nothing more..........yea right haha.

those things were notorious for batterys leaking and getting all over the wiring harness under the tray. theres a connector down there you may want to pull apart and make sure is all good if you ever have anymore goofy problems with it. nice pick up for a winter car though

Those pushrod 2.2's make good DD's, my friend drives one to work and he gets over 30mpg with just a SRI and a Cat-back.. just be careful and dont let it get hot..the pushrod 2.2's are notorious for blowing head gaskets...

nice DD wanting to pick up something similar. Had a 1996 2dr Cavy loved it, lost the head gasket around 33k miles in that but overall a great car. Good luck with it!

the old 2.2's are beasts!! jk

i still have my old cav, same engine but it was an 02 (non ecotec). The only problem i had with it was that while running there is a tinging coming from the engine. sounds like a pulley is loose or something, i donno
