this might sound like a stupid question but i just want to know i see some people saying they have a cobalt ss\sc g85 what the difference between a regular ss\sc and how do i know if i have one

 

It has Limited Slip Diff.

 

g85 was racaro seats and a lsd tranny in 05,06. in 07 it was the lsd

 

very first 07's some did come with the recaro's as well though don't forget

 

mine doesnt have recaro seat does that mean mine isnt a g85 i got mine used

well if you dont have recaro's im pretty sure you dont have lsd. unless someone changed the seats.

 

performance wise whats the diference between a g85 and a regular who has the advantage and why and how do i find out if i have g85 or not

 

if you have an 05 or 06 and have recaros then you have the g85. All g85 = is a limited slip. The limited slip has the advantage because its power to both wheels.

 

Inside your trunk, where your donut is, there should be a build sticker from the manufacturer that has a whole pile of codes on it consisting of three digits (IE: FE3, FE2, G85, and so on). If you have G85, it will show up on that sticker, if not, it won't.
Also, if you still have your Dealer Invioce, it should say on there as well.

 

So whats the difference on power? Is it just in the wheels? I never heard of this. (curious)

 

Not really my buddy had bought an ss/sc its an 06 with color match interior with LSD it was special order buy you are right for the most part.

ALl it does is put 50/50 power to each wheel with non lsd you get 60/40 or the one wheel spin

 

Yeah, 05's, 06's & some early year 07's that came with the G85 package came with the grippier Recaro bucket seats & came with a viscous LSD.

If you have an 05, or 06 with the Recaro's then it came with the G85, it was all in the package. And as already mentioned for 07 the G85 just came with the LSD if it wasn't an early year 07.

There's no differences in power between a non G85, and regular SS/SC.

Basically...

However the LSD helps w launching, driving in rain, and if you ever track race it or do autocross the LSD is a big help.
