Removing hard water spots on windows??

I just got my windows tinted on my Cobalt, and I have noticed that on the exterior of the windows, there are some streaks and water spots, I suppose from hard water. I guess the tint being on the windows has made it more visible.

I have scrubbed the windows with soap and water when washing, then use invisible glass to clean them and I still cant see to get rid of it.

Any suggestions?

get a new utility knife blade and scrape it off. Just be careful not to scratch the window.

Use a clay bar with lots of lubricant and they will be gone.

Sounds silly, but it works: Baby diaper cloths. You know, the cloths that people use to make diapers out of. Works so well with the vinegar, that when I wipe a window with it, it squeeks. I learned all this when cleaning mirrors in the house.

When we get new GMAC auction vehicles in, they have the yellow numbers all over the windows. Bitch to clean off, but we have a flat razor blade with a handle and we slide that against the window where the yellow paint is and it comes off lickety split. We take Invisible Glass to the window after and you can't tell it was there. You won't scratch the glass unless you are pushing wayy to hard, or are using the edge of the blade. Good luck!

I just washed the car today. I washed it then dryed the windows with some of those cloth baby diapers.. and used invisible glass and later some windex.. use a microfiber cloth to do the cleaning and scrub it a bit - will come off! At least for me.. but then i was an idiot and put some of that RainX on there.. i didnt buff that down enough so my back window is streaky.. infact almost all of my windows are. Clean microfiber cloth i should add..

Well I tried the vinegar and that didn't cut it. I think I am going to try the clay bar next, hopefully that will do it. The more I look at it and think about it, they aren't really spots, they are like streaks. Kinda looks like someone sprayed some kind of cleaner or something on the windows and let it sit, so it ran down the window and was never wiped, but it is like this on all of the windows, minus the windshield and rear window.

After thinking about it, I bought the car from a dealership that is right next to a major airport (Dulles) and the planes fly directly over it. When I was talking to the owner, he said they have a difficult time keeping the cars on the lot clean because of the jet fuel/pollution that the jets put off. I was wondering if that could maybe be what is on my windows that wont come off????

If you were looking to remove anything that way.. I wouldn't use a utility knife.. Use a window scraper.. It's basically a small handle with a razor blade in it made for scraping glass.

Personally I have used a utility knife on windows for work, and it gets stuff off but it will leave very fine scratches that you can see in the right light. The knife blades are not even close to as sharp as the razors for the scrappers.

Yes they were, they just weren't as noticeable, and they are on the outside of the window.
