What would you choose and why ?

I am debating between the 07 and 08, and her are my issues and concerns.
First the 07 is about $20,000 where I am from and the 08-09 are $30,000. I really love both the cars for different reasons but my my concerns are... for $10,000 more is and 08 really worth that much more? Would I be better off buying a Stage 2 - 2007 and slowly put more money into it over time ?
The $30,000 is a fair bit more than I wanted to spend and is my MAX budget. I do intend to take the car to the track and my main concern is handling and braking performance.

I know the 08 has amazing suspension and I wouldn't have to modify it... but I am not so sure on the 07 can you guys give me your thoughts and recommendations on what I should do and if I think an 07 should be my choice what should I modify.

Thanks

First off, you're probably better off getting an '09 if you want the RPD. It's amazing. Secondly, the 08's aren't $30,000. They retail for no more than $24,000 if I'm not mistaken.

Yah but it seems to be a solid motor capable of handling some serious power just like the old N-SRT4... and it's very easy to make them fast with just a tune and new fuel injectors

but it is FUGLY

30k for a cobalt is too much (not sure what the deal is here). You can buy a ms3 (mazdaspeed 3) for around 24k with around the same performance, same for the caliber srt-4 and wrx. All are turbocharged vehicles under 25k with around the same performance but the build qualities/features are different.

Mazdaspeed 3 in Canada is $31,095 retail.........chew on that, lol. The high performance sport compact that seems comparable in price to the US is the Dodge Caliber SRT4.
