For sure, it'd be just like a remote start system.

electric ignition is like having a push start ignition..so saying "even though" is incorrect

our ignitions are the same style as a push start...cept..we dont have a button that says it...really not needed anyways.

and yes, it's possible. vehicles have an electronic starting system, but once you overpower the compression and get the motor to turn over, you'll be fine.

yeah, there was a whole thread on it, but people were dishing out a lot of negativity. i plan on doing it, just to prove it can be done, and done tastefully.

My mom's altima is push-button start. She hates it but I think it's cool but I can understand why she hates it. Twice she left the engine running when parked once while she was at the store (it ran a good 20 minutes) and a second time at my grandmas. She comes in and says the car is beeping I dunno what's wrong with it. So I go look and its the engine that's still on but I can see why that's so easy to do. Your used to taking the keys out of the ignition, so when you have the keys in your hand you assume the car is off...lol

yeah i want to smooth over where the key cylinder is now, and relocate it under the dash, and then put the push start where the upper cigarette lighter is, or over by the fog light button.

Ohh sweeet you can actually convert it to push button start like my mom's altima? HOW TO please! Seriously though that would be awesome if I could convert mine. Would it be expensive to do?

Also would I be able to put a button on the door handle so I just press it to unlock the doors like on the altima? (u need the key on u for the doors to find the signal of the key so that the button will work when u press it other wise it won't do anything)

He is referring to a proximity sensor placed inside the key so that when you are within a certain range the door will unlock itself when you pull on the handle.

yeah

Basically I want the altimas ignition feature and door lock/unlock feature. Gives it a more 21st century look. And makes it safer in terms of getting stolen. So my question is how can it be done, where can it be done, and how much could it cost? Plus my original REAL question to this topic was still never answered.... (can you pop-the-clutch-start a dead battery crowbalt?)

You DO know that those electronics have nothing to do with how the motor turns right? ALL manual cars can do the push start.

Wow that is fail on Nissan's part. My moms Malibu has remote start from the factory and after 10 minutes if there's no key in the ignition it cuts off. Even a push button start should be the same way.

I only ask cause our gas pedal is electric and I read you need to gas it when trying 2 start a dead manual

I agree... infact since it's built on proximity range, the engine SHOULD cut off when u walk a certain distance away from the car. FAILLLLLLLLL.

ohhh ok. And yes I know all about that don't wanna sound like a n00b. There's no reason to pump the gas in a fuel injected car that's only carb. cars. I just didn't know about popping the clutch on a dead manual. Never tried it.

Ok well thanks for someone not posting the link to the push start topic I had to look my self. And my question was answered here so I guess this topic can die now! Thanks guys!
