Any idea why the Cav has an overdrive lockout on the automatic, yet the Cobalt does not?
I'm guessing it's a fuel saving thing.
In my present car, I only shift to OD when up to speed on the highway.

Cant you just put the shifter into the 3 position to lock out OD. Thats how it works on my S10.
There is no 3 position.
It goes P R N D 2 1

The computer is smarter than you when it comes to saving gas, just leave it in drive :cssNET:

the cavalier doesn't actually have a lockout button, it just has all the ranges in the selector: PRND321... my focus has a lockout button and PRND21... i was surprised to see the cobalt NOT have a way to keep the trans in 3rd gear...

They do have a OD lock out botton, its called the gas pedal but it has to be on the floor hahahahahahha..
Anyone know at what speed the Cobalt shifts from 3rd to 4th, under normal acceleration?
My present car does it around 65 km/h, which is often in city driving, hence I keep OD locked out in the city.
