View Full Version : What is better, Hurst, B&M or Stock shifter??
Black08SSTC 09-07-2008, 10:14 PM Im in the market to buy a new shifter, but i heard mixed reviews on all of the shifters. Some say hurst, some say b&m and others like the stock. Im not really sure on which way to go so i made this poll. I personally like the look of the hurst because its gunmetal, But if im going to shell out $150 for a shifter i want to get some good opinions first. So whats yours??

thought 09-07-2008, 11:10 PM Got my B&M put in, it kicks the stock shifter's ass. As far as I know, the Hurst has a VERY slightly longer throw, but many people prefer the knob that comes with the Hurst. I am happy with my B&M knob, and the stock knob can be put on it.

steddy2112 09-08-2008, 06:16 AM I have the Hurst on my LNF.
It is PRETTIER than stock...and I got a great facking price on it...is it shorter?
Yeah...but it isn't going to make you crap your pants.
Still the shortest throw I have ever thrown was with my old TWN F23 shifter on my old cobalt, now THAT, was a short throw.

yea i dont want a ridiculous short throw. i was actually looking at it more for looks i like the gunmetal finish.
steddy2112 09-08-2008, 06:23 AM It has a little more effort...take a little getting used too...other than that...it's golden.
ls1fbody 09-08-2008, 06:42 AM i have the hurst and i LOVE it, there are no horror stories, but i do like the one TWM makes.
hi stweddy weddy.
K-Train04RL 09-08-2008, 09:12 AM my b&m works flawlessly love it. ive tried the hurst, and in canada that knob gets really cold in the winter or really hot so i went w/ the b&m
boostaddict 09-08-2008, 12:56 PM yo steddy got banned??? wtf!!!!!
TurboTechRacing 09-08-2008, 10:05 PM I have shifted both and B&M is much smoother...

I'd go with the TWM.

Not saying it's a bad choice, but the B&M comes with solid bushings for the price, and TWN costs extra. The bushings make all the difference in shift feel / speed for me. Also, the B&M is as short or shorter in throw.....
Black08SSTC 09-09-2008, 12:41 AM so after reading most of these posts it seems b&m is the way to go. Yes? even though the poll shows different
thought 09-09-2008, 02:53 AM Unless the knob doesn't do it for you.
