View Full Version : Wondering which t3 turbo i need for my 2007, 2.2, auto
CobaltCpe 09-16-2008, 01:16 PM Hey everyone,
I am in the process of building me a turbo kit for my 2007 2.2 auto. I have been researching turbos and still not sure which one to get as i need something that is going to spool up quickly but still get to 300 hp once i build my motor. I need something that will start to spool at around 2500 or 3000 rpm. I would just like to get a turbo and hit the 200 hp mark after a tune. I know and heard of good things about the turbonetics t3 super 60 which is .48 a/r and 60 trim but it is very costly. It shows its good for 150 hp to 325 hp which would be about right. I was wondering which other garrett turbos would work for me in that hp range. Anyone to help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

well with your lower displacement i dont think your going to want a huge a/r...probably a .48 will be best..it really depends on what you plan to spend on it.....you can pick up a new t3/t4 .48 a/r turbo (50 trim) for 6 or 700...your not going to do much better than that unless you know someone or buy used

not as of yet... the tuneing for the 2.2 is not out yet... the only way to do it would be to build your own then run a piggy back ecu wich has to sent out to be tuned
payne 12-12-2008, 10:00 AM Same turbo on an SRT-4 made 348 to the tires on 15½ psi.
Nearly the same size engine right?
Here are some pics of the same unit in the link. You can see the quality in it. True Garrett/Air Research centers and shaft. I know they are of quality.
I run two of them on a turbo Mustang and make over 700 to the tires. Also building a twin G35 with these units.
Great turbo for the money imo.

I'm actually an 07 that is using this turbo in the next week or so.
Will be using a conservative tune on 42s. Hoping for around 220-250 hp so I don't blow something up.

for some reason i was thinking that was a different turbo than the specs...my apologies....however...i do believe that a garret t3/t4 50 trim .63 housing and a clipped(stg3) wheel is of pretty close comparison to the above mentioned turbo, which can be picked up for 550-600 now adays depending on what options you pick, which still leaves another 2-250 dollars to put towards a bigger or better turbo

correct.. also with the stg III clipped 12 degrees can drop the choke flow across the turbine dramatically.
another option would be this one if desired boost is down low and room to grow is needed as well.
