THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.

Purpose
This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the front brake rotors on certain 2008 model year Chevrolet Cobalt SS vehicles. On some of these vehicles, the front brake rotors may not be to GM’s specification, resulting in a vibration in the steering wheel or brake pulsation during light braking between 48-56 km/h (30-35 mph) and 97-113 km/h (60-70 mph).

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicle's base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.

I just got mine back from having the rotors replaced. After the first dealer I took it to, TURNED THEM TWICE, to minimum thickness and afterwards told me that "I'd better be careful, now they'll warp twice as fast." After I got it back from them, I started down the road and felt another vibration in the wheel, at any speed, but only while correcting the steering and turning... So I took it to another dealer (the one that REPLACED the rotors), told them about the issue, now I got the car back today and still having the issue with the vibrations while correcting and turning. The service tech wrote on his report that the vibrations from correcting is normal for all low profile tires... Thats kinda funny since my car never had this problem before w/ these same exact tires... nor did the other '08 and two '09 SS's that I test drove.
