dyno results from my SS/SC

Well I went to Synapse and dynoed my 06 SS/SC. I laid down 235 whp and between 215 to 220 torque. I have stage 2, gm header, injen cai, gmpp exhaust, zzp catless downpipe and an ingalls torque dampner. Any imput on my future mods of hp tuners tune, 60 lb injectors and smaller pulley.

if your gonna up to 60's and lower in pulley sizes i suggest a h/e and the dual pass w/ option b. and if you really want to mess with it, as steven has, go with meth. its a pain in the ass to get right. but when you finally get it you'll love it. after all that get the hpt tune

its not a canned tune, it will be custom, so if you get a good tuner, the car will run great, probably better than stock. there a re a lot of guys whose gas mileage got better on 60's just because of a better tune.

you'll have to find someone with HP-tuners, or a dyno shop that has it to get tuned. as far as another member tuning you, $200-300 is usually a good starting point.

Yea I would like to get the heat exchanger and dual pass. Snyapse said that I would get approx 10 to 15 hp with the HPtuners tune alone?

Synapse would tune it and dyno it for me. What abuot the tune alone with my mods?

I know you went to Synapse on a diff day than I did for my "Stage 2 + 0 vs. Stock SS/T " comparo, but weather conditions were pretty much the same (70's/dry).

I got 227whp/203ft lbs, and the SS/T made 237whp/258 ft lbs.

So if the numbers are comparable, then I'm only down 8whp/12-15tq without the header/cai/exhaust.

Not bad ...

Nice man. I laid down 220/190 with my only mods at the time being the megan catback and airbox mod on that same dyno. I also changed my rev limit to 7000 via HP Tuners but left the rest of the tune alone.

If it wasn't on the same dyno then that means nothing to me. All dynos read differently.

Nah, I wish. My buddy mike (xskier874 on here) has it and I had him help me out.

The CrateEngine Depot ad for the Stage 2 says "This Kit enhances engine performance to 245 hp (up from stock 205 hp)":
http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P1540C196.aspx

But the dyno graph in that same ad says it makes 241hp (?):

Saying "up from stock 205hp" would mean they're talking crank hp.

So the Stage 2 is making either +40hp or +36hp at the crank (depending if you go by what the ad says or what the dyno graph says).

Right on. Couldn't have said it better myself, but he is right that a good tune on that stock pulley will make gobs of power because you won't heat soak as much as the Stage II guys would.

I remember him, he ever put that turbo kit on his car? He always said he wanted to run me, but we never got a chance to meet up. I'm thinking about picking up HPT for myself this winter and starting to tinker w/ it. I've got a lot of resources at my disposal as far as seasoned tuners to help me learn it. This area is in need of someone w/ HPT to help people out...

I was hoping to get him out to LVD this season cause I finally have my car running right again. Even on the street tune w/ 4 degrees of timing pulled out I'm trapping 108 when the car is cool. W/ the 4 degrees back in, I think I can come in right around 111. If I could only get my 60' down, I'd be able to touch the high twelves no problem...

get cooling mods before you drop any smaller on the pulley. Otherwise you'll be making a ton of heat.

Regarding claimed Stage numbers ...

I just checked the official GMPP 2008 Catalogue, and it says 241hp for Stage 2 and 236hp for Stage 1 (once again, crank hp).

Must be CrateEngine Depot was "rounding up" the numbers. LOL

Oh, I know this first hand. You should have seen how my back half dropped off throughout the day on my 2.79" pulley last weekend. First pass was the 108 trap picking up 25mph in the back half and I didn't even shift at the best point in second (usually costs me 2-3mph in the trap). My best run of the day was a couple hours and runs later and I only gained 21mph in the back half, shifting at the right spots. That was w/ a bag of ice on it in the staging lanes for a half hour...

I do have a Cobra H/E up front, but that doesn't do **** for hot laps. What this car needs once you drop below a 3.0" pulley is Meth inj. along w/ the better cooling plumbing. Let my car be a lesson to all you guys upgrading from stock. I can put down 290 easy on any dynojet, but that's only good for my first pass at the track. W/ a good cooling setup, I'd be in much better shape at the track regardless of ambient temps.

OP - I say you do somewhere around a 2.9" pulley w/ a dual-pass, secondary H/E, HatrickStu reservoir mod and meth injection w/ a tune. You would make hardcore power (like upwards of 275-280 w/ a good conservative tune on their dyno) and be able to keep that power consistently on the road or track...

Originally the Stage 2 kit was advertised as bringing the HP up to 245. However, it was changed down to 241 at some point in time.
