CED's High Performance Brake Parts

Just finished installing the GM High performance rotors and ceramic brake pads I got from CED. The ceramic pads are supposed to run cooler and have less dust -- I'm tired of cleaning my wheels so I hope this is true

On the CED site they have the installation instructions. To perform the initial brake burnishing you are supposed to make 20 hard stops from 30-40 MPH without locking the tires up and allowing cooling between stops.....and they do stink on the first drive

Looks good, but ceramic pads with drilled/slotted...why? Just blanks with ceramic pads would have been plenty.

Yea...thought the same thing at first, just get the ceramic pads, since I was going to disassemble anyway I figured I just do it all at one time -- and I show the car at car shows so I want all the visual goodies too. Have to have extras when the SC cars park next to me

This is all raybestos stuff correct?

I had the sts rotors (drilled/slotted) and they wore out fast with ceramics. Autozone's are fine for 20 bucks a piece.

The pads came in AC Delco boxes, and the rotors are GM Parts. Who the actual manufacturer is I don't know.

I've never heard of them cracking, and they are pretty thick so it's hard to believe they would be any more suceptable to warping then the originals. Got a buddy that has had GM high performance rotors on for 5 years on his Corvette with no problems -- and since GM warranties them I would think the rotors would last awhile on my Cobalt.

Some info: 2 days of driving with the ceramic brake pads and the dust is not as bad as with the original pads. There is still some dust, but it is collecting on the inside of the wheel -- not all over the outer grey areas of my 17" SS polished/painted wheels like it did before.

Update 2: Been a week driving with the CED ceramic brake pads and the dust is not as much of a problem as with the original brake pads. I'm not stating there's NO dust, but I don't need to clean the wheels yet and that is a BIG difference!

If it's time to change your brake pads OR if you hate having to clean your wheels weekly I recommend the ceramic brake pads

Hey red, just curious

How much was shipping from CED to you?

Also do you know if they are coated in anything to prevent rust?

All 4 rotors and pads was $39.90

They are not coated -- I painted them with Duplicolor black caliper paint before installing so they would look good for a long time.

I have ceramics on mine and do find them to expel alot less dust as well.. But they certainly DO still dust.. Next step is d/s rotors, Green Stuff's, braided lines, and maybe some good fluid.. Good luck.

Improvement over stock is less dust and lower heat. The biggest benefit is the rotors and ceramic pads cool quicker so brake fade is less of a problem when driving hard.

Truth is my Cobalt will not be used where they are most advantageous -- road racing where the brakes are used a lot (not while I own it, anyway). I put the rotors on for shows and the ceramics on for less dust.
