Removed SAI

so saturday me and orngbalt removed his sai system while we installed his header and downpipe. he had it reflashed a while back so that the car doesn't activate the sai. not to sure how that works or what it does, i've been out of the loop on this for a while, but haven't heard of anyone removing the system. was pretty straightforward, took off a few bolts, cut the hose a few times, and pulled and twisted till it came off. just thought i'd give a little hope for those that have it. i know when i had my 2.2 and had the sai there was no re-flash available, and i was pretty much assed out as far as taking it off.

i didn't get the reflash, i have a 2.0. orngbalt had the reflash done before we removed it. no cel, nothing. it came of pretty easy, even having never taken one off we were able to figure it out with no problems. only thing was that we had to remove the driver side headlight for the clearance to get out the pipe

its been removed by a lot of members, myself included. If you just unplug it from the header and swap headers, the pump will still run and just pump air into the enginebay, which is what i did for a long time. you get a CEL doing it this way, but the car starts fine, warms up with normal AFRs and drives fine. Then i took out the whole pump and plumbing system and got a reflash....still drives fine.

we left the pump, but took the rest out. once you get the reflash it doesn't do anything.

just thought i'd share in case people didn't know, i would have loved to know about this when i had my 2.2

Mine was flashed out when i got the tune. How would I go about actually taking off the sai system? I dont even really know what it looks like besides that tube that was connected to the air box. If someone could help me with this it would be very appreciated

SAI is the hose from the air filter box to the AIR pump then another hose goes from the air pump to the checkvalve on top of the Exhaust manifold.

Remove: hoses, pump, checkvalve and steel-welded exhaust manifold. Install cast iron manifold or header -- and disable SAI. It can also be disabled by a knowledgable technician with the same diagnostic equipment used when installing 16" wheels on an LS. Finding a technician that will do this is the hard part -- it is emissions equipment and could be against the law....

thx, so I would have to get new headers before I can remove the sai system without problems right? and is there any way someone could take some pics of exactly what I need to remove so I don't mess up when I do it, don't have as much knowledge as you guys on how to do this kinda stuff
