Stage 2 build

Ok so heres an update on my stage 2 build...andrew i know this is what u want to hear. So anyways, me and chad started ripping into the car around 8pm tonight, stopped working at 9:50pm. So far we have the fuel line/injectors out of the car, and go figures the stock harness doesnt fit the new injectors so they have to be solder. We have the supercharger out of the car...and since my damn $300 socket/wrench set didnt have a 15mm wrench we had to try many tactics to loosen the tentioner. So the only new part thats on the car right now is the Stage 2 Belt...which looks the same length as the stock belt Cant tell if its the same size or about an inch shorter.

So tomorrow, first thing im jumping on the bus with my injectors/harness/supercharger/pulley and getting james to change the pulley and solder the harness to the injectors. Then ill come home and hopefully i can do this without help...start putting everything back together. Then if the car starts ill drive back to james and tune it. I'm praying this works out otherwise i gotta take the bus back to NB tomorrow and leave the car like this till next weekend. Anyways heres some pics of the unbuild...lol

Ya you definatly need a new injector wiring harness in order to work with the 60lb seimens injectors, also a used pulley puller is necessary to remove the stock pulley, did they send you the injector harness when you bought the injectors? If not you are gonna need those in order to splice into the stock injector wiring harness. PM me if you have any questions, I have swapped 4 - SS/SC balts injectors so far, I have it down to like 15 mins now!

I woulnt try driving i to the shop for tuning, thats just my opinion, I cant see you makiing it very far, and if for some reason it does run, DO NOT hit boost under any circumstances.

But definatly keep us updated on how you make out! It will be a totally different car after its done

FYI, you can order a complete harness for the injectors through Intense racing, or you can just order the injector harness clips to fit on those 60's from New Era Performance, I would just recommend just ordering a whole injector harness for liek $50-60 from Intense racing heres the link, I am sure tons of other vendors have the same one.

I knew he needed a harnass lol, but he was set that he didnt. He doesnt need a puller though he is bringing the supercharger to James to put the new one on. I guess Damien will be taking the bus to NB tonight.

Ya definatly not the way I would have started it, but oh well, lessons learned I quess. Greg aka Zekdemos has a used pulley puller I am sure would sell for a great price if he wanted to purchase it, plus it would only take a few days to ship. That way the blower wont be damaged by trying to remove the stock pulley.

There is no way those injectors are gonna work with the stock harness, the clips wont fit on the new injectors, so he will have to buy a Casper injector harness or at the very least the bosch style injector clips and then have them soldered into the factpry harness as I did. I would highly recommend he just order these parts and have Raven just do the install at his shop, as its alot easier to do it all at once.

Dont want to see this turn into a bigger pain in the ass then it already has been for him!

It may start, i know when they installed the stage 2 injectors on my car with out reflashing it, it did start and idled, however Brent never reved it up or drove it as that could be pretty dangerous, the ecu still thought it had the stock 34lb injectors and not the 42.5's that were installed. Than he swapped the pulley and flashed the stage 2 reflash of course. Mostly curious if it would actually start up, it did

That will get him to the shop, but again, wont recommend he drive it very hard as the injector duty cycle with the 2.8 will be like 175% at redline on the stock injectors. I will trust that you will make sure he knows what to do Chad!

Ok so an update. As chad already mentioned. I brought the Supercharger and Injectors to James to solder them, not knowing i needed different clips. So he said its not recommend at all to run 2.8 on stock injectors but i would have had no choice im due back in NB tomorrow for work. So i got the supercharger and everything reinstalled. Stupidly i over torqued the banjo bolt that holds the coolent return line down. I had no choice but to drive to James, hoping he would have a replacement. Unfortunely he didnt. So i drove to him producing no more then -20 boost the whole time. Got there, poppped the hood and every drop off coolent in the tank was all over the engine bay. While driving i kept an eye on my coolent temp and it only got up to 109* ...usally around 83* So he didnt have any of the parts we needed and since nothing is opened we have to wait till tomorrow. He has a friend that is giving me the clips for the harness and he will call some places for the banjo bolt.

So he started installing my gauges. But ran out of time so he will do it tomorrow. So tomorrow afternoon everything should be installed/working/tuned. Lets just hope i dont get charged with AWOL at work.

And chris, shut the **** up...its not funny. Whats ******* funny is when your car is going to blow up cuz your are putting to much boost in your car and dont know what your doing.

Anyways, like quicksilver said, lesson learned. From know on, any upgrades are going to be done by Oregans, Ravens or another place.

ok, another update. James couldnt get the clips for the harness or the banjo bolt. He ended up drilling a hole in a bolt and use it for the coolent...works perfect. As for the injectors, well they will be installed Oct. 24th along with the tune. Once again james said i can drive the car on the 2.8 pulley with stock injectors as long as i keep the needle below 0 boost. We went for a quick drive and he did a scan, slight knock and he discovered the throttle % was messed up...says 16% when my foot isnt even on the gas and 83% when im WOT. He said if the tune on the 24th doesnt fix it, dealership will have to replace my system. I got my gauges installed and my wideband is avg. 14.5 Keep in mind thats with no tune yet and still stock injectors. I know its not a good idea to drive the car but i got no choice...used up all my money and im in **** at work for missing today so ill be leaving in about 30mins...ill let u guys know tomorrow how the drive went.

All Cobalt SS/SC that have been scanned will only show up to 80+% Throttle percent when under WOT, not sure why but it just does. The 2.8 will be fine just dont be boosting the car when driving. The throttle percentage even when your foot isnt on the throttle is normal, mine does the exact same thing, dealer doesnt need to replace the ecu. wideband will flucuate around the 13.9-15.5 range when normal driving and idle and will go 10's when under WOT, but you wont see that until the 60's and tune go in.

**** happens Damien, its not like they haven't had other people miss work for various reasons... its just management being a dick. Ignore them, you are entitled to have life interfere with work once in a while. Call it a sick day. Which I bet you never call in sick...

quick question..

can you use the stock tensioner to tight the belt when u put a smaller pulley or u need another one to get it right?
