I'll just copy and paste the same thing I put in your thread on the redline forums

Your trap speed is inflated from your crappy driving. If/when you actually get a good launch and run the car hard, you won't trap but probably 105ish and run a mid 13.

I'm not talking shit, so please don't take that offensively. I'm just preaching the truth.

stock 17inc falcon AZENIS RT-615 225/45

now i am running a 3in turn down in to a borla XL-R muffler.. could be why it had so much top end. there were was an LS1 there that i raced and he ran
13.3@104 MPH and i ran like 14.4@108 something and caught him in the end. LS1s pull like hell up top

but let me asked this, even with crappy driving and tires how many other people have traped that high before? i know of a few but thats it

I retract my statement about his trap speed. There's a reason he trapped that high. I figured it out. Will anyone else? Who knows. Once I hit up the track again, I'll tell everyone why.

compucarnut
10-18-2008, 09:57 PM
yeah, the reason he trapped so high is the dismal 2.4 60 foot. Whenever I 60 footed over 2.1 in my mustang I would usually trap 1-3 mph higher. Still, 109 is very good regardless.

High trap speeds means you suck at driving. All it means is you spun the shit out of the tires on the launch.

The cold weather is helping your trap speed too. I see your in MI. I'm from Northern Indiana and I know the last few days have only been highs in the 60s. If you raced later in the day or at night your talking 50* temps and that is gonna pick you up some decent power.

you're spinning in place, your covering less ground while gaining MPH

mcphatty
10-20-2008, 01:57 PM
wouldnt that just increase the speed of your tires rotation though? if you're spinning, the car isnt moving as fast as the tires

light'bolt
10-20-2008, 02:02 PM
probably something to do with wheel inertia or something like that. When you finally do hook your moving just a little faster, kinda like getting a running start.

you can gain velocity without covering as much ground...You've broken traction, the traction force is no longer impeding the torque input from your car. When you regain traction, your car can be at a higher MPH while having covered a shorter distance. The acceleration of the wheel will increase, due to less resistance (constant T-in) so you can reach that higher instantaneous velocity in a shorter distance, of course since you're covering less ground it's taking you longer to finish the 1/4, and once that traction force comes back into play that higher instantaneous acceleration you had is now lowered dramatically

hmm, i found a few guys on here that had a crappy 60ft like me. 2.4 2.5 and only traped 104=105 2.4 60ft means they where spinning just as bad lol

lVlemphizStylez
10-21-2008, 08:13 AM
not just the 60 ft applies....if after the 60 mark you're burning through second, that plays a role too. You can spin for more than just your 60 ft...

Ahhh, reminds me of the good ol days. The days of the 14.1 @ 108 on pump gas in 90 degree heat. I remember I ran 14.1 @ 108 with a 2.65 60' lol. During the winter I ran 13.5 @ 113 on race gas, but I don't ever say it because the score boards were not working that night, and neither was the ET slip printer. The only way I knew what I ran was my friend listened to the announcer. So there isn't any PROOF that I actually did it :(
