Somebody Claims their Cobalt SS went 12.98@109
Somebody Claims their Cobalt SS went 12.98@109
They posted over at the Red Line forurms. No slip yet, but if they come through with the slip mark one up for the Intense Kit, with a lil help from the giggle juice.

The juice came on second gear because the stock clutch is crap. He's ordering a clutch, I guess next week. I was predicting 13.20s, but he blew that prediction out of the water.
I've gotta bunch of nitrous equip i was interested in using on my ss/sc but after talking to Mav at JBP he told me about the teflon coating that can get damaged with the N2O. This makes total sense because i used spray on my Thunderbird SC and it DID strip some of the teflon off my thottle body and my idle jumped 300(!) rpm...
12.98? i'm drooling...thats awesome.

The supercharger rotors are NOT teflon coated. They have whats called an abraidable coating. It will hold up fine with nitrous or water injection! Been proven on my Impala that i put 20K miles on it while using water injection, NO issues.
Now the older blowers are teflon coated and it will strip off!
That somebody would be me and the car isn't mine I just set it up. The "claim" is true and proof is coming. We're not really big on these forums because we're too busy working/racing plus I run a street racing forum for Central Florida.
Anyway I came here to see if anyone had bested our time or if someone had decided to spray on top of a 2.8 pulley when I stumbled across this thread. We're having some extended runtime issues with the spray and 2.8 pulley. But to answer any questions, the car is on a BFG drag radial and has pretty much every available bolt on part that provides a net hp increase. No header installed yet because I'm installing a WBO2 in the aftermarket header and I ran into trouble with the 5V analog input on the old EFILive cable we're using so the header isn't in the car yet.
Methanol injection allows more timing to be ran with the smaller pulley. It also adds octane and richens the mixture depending on the mix ratio. Basically full timing is allowable without any detonation.
Nitrous does wear the teflon off the rotors, but the Eaton won't be there much longer anyway.
Any other questions?

No seriously, what's the deal? With the mods you don't think it's possible? Or you think it's possible and the car just doesn't have them?

cool, i'll trailer down the Cobra and we can race..
Anyway
I personally don't think it is possible for all those mods to work efficiantly... YET. Nobody has had any real access to tuning for the LSJ. and until we do, i just don't see Intense Stage kit, meth kit, N.O.S, BFG drag radials, K&N making a 12.98 at 109.
Lets see some pictures. Personally I would like to see how the Meth kit and N02 are setup.
Trailered Cobra, huh? Bring a trailered car to run our lil ol 4cyl street car? Bring a trailered car to the spot and you'll get raped on the road in Central Florida, just for future reference. You're full of **** anyway.
Nobody said it was plug and play. I sweated over that damn thing for many weeks working out the bugs with the meth kit/NOS/ 3.25 pulley. The BFGs were worth .5 right off the bat. Car went 14.72@97mph completely stock. 3.25 pulley/meth and nitrous 14.10@101mph. Added the BFGs, adjusted mix ratio and jet size on the meth, and K&N the car went 13.68@104mph. Added the Intense Stage kit, 100% mix, colder plug and adjusted the gap and it netted a 12.98@109mph.
The full strength mix is causing problems on the juice once the car has been driven for a week or two. It's not perfect. Now that I have the MAFT to play with and once the Wideband is in place I won't be doing things the ole fashioned way and using the meth to adjust the fuel mixture. It works, but it's not a kit and definitely isn't plug and play. So pretty much, if you have no idea about reading plugs, adjusting a/f ratios when using methanol then stay away.

If you ran 12s, congrats and post up the slip so everyone can suck your E-nuts. You're right, a time is a time regardless of how you got there, but if you used NOS, heres my take on it.
You can throw an XXX shot of NOS on anything and make it run faster. This is more true with Nitrous than it is with Forced Induction or any other mod. If I wanted to run 12s cheap and easy I wouldve thrown a 125 shot on my car and left it at that. Fact is you have a limited supply until you refill the bottle, whereas with FI its always there. Thats why I dont like it.
