Yep they are fine on a stock 2.2L....but I had almost every mod you could bolt on(and something ;)) and well traction issue because I had such little rotation mass.

Yielded me slower times. I didn't feel like sitting there cooking the tires so I just dealt with quick spins to warm em up.

16's with a 225.50.16 look fine but you HAVE to be lowered.

The Cobalt is really a pretty large and bubbly little car, with big wheel openings, so it does like best with 17's in my mind. The diference between a 225/50/16 and a 225/45/17 is a half inch of sidewall, not really as dramatic as alot of people think. Not to mention that wheels are cheaper and lighter and that tires are cheaper.

so 16's are good?

Of course, theres nothing WRONG with them at all.....like I said wheels and tires are cheaper and the wheels will most likely be at least 3lbs each lighter than a comparable 17.

If you wanna run 16's, go for it! If I stick with my current wheel choice Ill be running 16s too because theres over a $600 price diference between 16 and 17 in the newest wheel I like.

so 16 = cheaper. good lol. what would be better preformance wise? 16 or 17

and then if 16s are lighter does the tire extra size just make up for that? the tires have to be some what bigger so it cant be just as light

You have less rotational mass with 16s if you have same tire size as the 17(clearly not the last number but you get the picture). But if the 16s are heavier then you lose any purpose.

If you compare any two identical model tires and the only difference is that one is a 225.50.16 and the other is a 22.45.17 youll likely find that there is almost always less than a pound difference(the 16 will be lighter), the 17s have less sidewall, so the sidewall has to be stiffer, more material. Very little difference in weight between these two sizes. And if you go with the 205/55/16 size(stock 16 size) youll find the 16 is almost always 2-3lbs lighter than the 17 of the same model

yeah man. this is my third season with this combo. I like it more and more every year. And hell yeah the price was right. I got all 4 rims as brand new take offs for $102.50 on Ebay. the tires were about 90 each.

The only possible weigh those Konigs weigh 10.6lbs is if youre talking about 15x6 as the size, and even then 12-13 is more likely. 15s proly wont fit an SC.....

I think theres actually someone in this thread with that tire size for a winter setup....
