i need new tires already at only 14k miles, falken zeus 512 215/50r/17

Hey everyone,

So when my car had 10k miles on it i bought aftermarket 17" black rims with chrome lip and Falken Ziex 512 215/50r/17 tires. There suppose to be rated at 30k miles but i only got 14k miles and my tires are almost bald. I did rotate the tires at 5k miles but havent rotated since and its been 9k miles. I really doubt my not rotating the tires that it would make them bald. So i go to discount tire today and he wants to sell me the same brand tire and of course i asked him why so i can replace them again in another 14k miles. I mean are these tires really that bad or is it because i do all stop and go city driving at low speeds of 50 mph and less. So discount quoted me on 2 new falken replacements for $195 tax and all out the door. I still have 2 tires that are on the edge and will eventually go too. My alignment is fine too and i am running eibach prokit. My car is a 2007 with
24k miles. Here is my same tire thats on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-NEW...QQcmdZViewItem

I do have my stock rims/tires too as i am considering putting them back on as i want and will eventually trade my car in for a cobalt ss or the new cobalt ss turbo model. So i am really debating if its worth it to get new tires just to keep these aftermarket rims/tires on my car. I do so much though hate the hubcaps. Any ideas on what i should do.

Heres a picture of my car with the rims/tires.

no that is the pictures when i first got the tires and now after 14k miles they are bald (well the front two) and back are very close. The tires are bald in the very middle as there is still thread left on the edges.

i am not asking whether you like the rims or not. I am saying i need new tires at 14k miles. I was asking if these tires are really that bad. I read online that they wear alot faster than other tires.

Well went and complained again this morning and got 2 new tires with warranty and free tire replacement for $130, tax and all out the door. I guess it does good sometimes to complain, lol.

If the old ones were balled in the center of the tread, were you running them overinflated?

Glad you got some compensation. (I like the wheels BTW)

I love the wheels too but this just pisses me off. I paid more for tire replacement when purchasing the tires brand nw and they should of honored it more still but glad i got something out of them for arguing.

The old ones were bald in the center. I am not sure as i like to drive fast and i have the b&m shiftplus on stage 1 or 2 always so im not sure if that related to this. I drive all city too and not much highway so my speed is 55 mph and less usually all the time with lots of stop lights. Not sure they were overinflated as i never filled them up so i have no clue. They told me really i need to rotate them every 3k miles because these are z rated and high performance tires, is that true?

Stop doing burnouts....
Just buy new tires. Easy fix.

Also if you chirp when shifting into 2nd it does put wear on your tires.

yeah i believe the stage 2 and 3 chirp was a big problem and me not rotating them as quickly as i should of been. Now im rotating them every 3k miles and getting them balanced.

yeah but are they 912's rated at 30k miles or more. The 512's are only rated at 30k and they are really a low end tire as he showed me on the screen. He really wanted me to upgrade to a 55k mile warranty tire.

you're supposed to rotate ever 6-7k .. doing it more isn't really going to help... and still "chirping" should never rip through tires more then burnouts...

do you have proper inflation? over inflating will wear them out fast

what do you mean by proper inflation. Discount tire fills them up with air and checks the psi for me.

relying on someone else is badd. you'd be suprised how much certain "professionals" don't know..

find out how much should be in there.. and get a pressure gauge check them every month or so that they are there

check them cold..

under inflation of tires can give worse MPG but better traction.. too much under inflation can blow out tires..

over inflating will yeild better MPG but also faster wear..

under inflation is worse then over inflation

Tires worn out in the center is classic overinflation, or a defect(not likely since both fronts wore the same presumably)

You should be checking your tire pressure at LEAST once a month, but more like evertime you fill up, or whenver the weather changes temps by more than 15 degrees.

30psi cold minimum. I wouldnt go over 35psi cold unless Falken recommends it(not likely)
