Subject: City Council to vote on Motion regarding Race City on November 2.
Importance: High

Below is an important email to me from Art MacKenzie of Race City Speedway.

If you are in support of Race City Speedway continuing beyond the end of 2009, please email your local alderman, lobbying them for their support of this resolution.

The more impact created at this crucial time, the better chance we have a facility for 2010 and beyond.

I have attached a copy of the resolution.

Please forward this email on to friends, colleagues and motorsports enthusiasts as well as post on websites.

Thank you for taking time to address this matter as well as your support of Motorsports in Calgary.

Aldermen McIver and Connelly have a motion before City Council that will be voted on during the Council meeting on Monday November 3 or Tuesday November 4. The motion basically asks Council to direct the City Administration to honour the existing lease they have with Race City. This would give Race City the opportunity to continue to exist and keep Motorsport active in Calgary. ...if it passes.

I would ask that you, as a user of this facility, email your local alderman for your business or home and ask them to support this motion, and explain the affect of the loss of this facility on your business or life.

The motion does not ask for anything not already granted by the City, and I think our Aldermen need to recognize that their constituents are affected if Race City is forced to close.

This is the website for the Ward offices:
http://www.calgary.ca/portal/server....an+by+ward.htm

Thank you for taking the time to do this so that your local alderman gets the message before they vote on Monday.

I agree that Calgary needs a race track. I have gone to Race City many times, however I think it is time for Calgary to look for a new one or for someone to heavily renovate Race City. The track is not that good and has not had any good maintenance done on it in years. The drag strip is not that good, and definitely needs upgrades.

I have been to the one in Edmonton and I have to say that drag strip is in MUCH better shape and is well taken care of.

The city has people there that have a large passion for racing and who also have deep pockets to help with this. That is who should be going after this.

I also agree that the Secret Streets on Saturdays is a great way to get people to stop street racing and to have a legal and SAFE place to do so. And getting rid of the track will do nothing but bring street racing back to the streets.

i corrected your post

I think wats happening is Race City is going to 100% forsure get closed and the City is taking the land, a new track will be built somewhere nearby but not by next year and not even by 2010, so wat they are trying to do is ensure the city honors the original lease until 2010 so a new track can be built.

new track a must, but it will need much more then this site to convince the man what needs to happen. any one who knows someone in the corperate world like the owner of husky or something should put a bug in his/her ear (build it, they will come!!!) super speedway with full drag NHRA, NASCAR, IRL, AMERICAN LEMANS, and if done right with top rank road coarse inside SSWAY F1. All of these racing org. has said the first qualified track in N.W. corner will be seriously looked at for events. F1 would be the hardest to sign up, but NASCAR would be the easiest. there' my rant for the day.
