Just got back from Byers Chevy. Ordered an 09 SS/TC White Coupe with Ebony/Red interior. Options are sunroof, LSD, high-rise spoiler, reconfigurable performance display , radio w/ USB, and spare tire (I think that's pretty much all the options).

I can't wait for it to get here. I will have to wait a while, though, because Chevy has placed a hold on builds with the RPD (dealer says Chevy probably ran out of screens...who knows?), but it's worth the wait to me. Chevy's saying 60 days. As of now, mods will include tint, and I'm researching a good tuning solution.

Currently driving an 07 Civic Si Black Coupe w/ Navi. I love my Si, but there's no replacement for a nice torquey motor - and turbo of course! I am really looking forward to having some torque. I'm also looking forward to meeting everyone on the forum. I'm VolkSi on 8thCivic.com, but that's going away. (BTW, I always get this question, my last name is Volk, I do not have Volk wheels, and, no, they will not give me any discounts...bastards!):twothumbs

No problem man... enjoy the car when it gets to ya. It's relatively unique, not sure how much you know about Cobalts thus far but there are no white supercharged Cobalts... so the only other people with white Cobalts with the full SS kit are other '09 turbo owners or any SC owners who painted their cars (haven't heard of anyone who has done that) or any 06-08 2.4 SS owners who added the SS lips (very few have done that either). :twothumbs

That was 1 of the main reasons I switched to white. Black is pure sex when it's clean, but it's only clean for 15 minutes, and that gets annoying fast!

Not too many white ones around our area, but yes, a lot of black ones. Blue was the other popular color.

i've seen a few of the sedan Si's in the dark blue, it looks pretty sharp, but ya majority is black/white/grey(silver)

absolutely i like that color, i've seen a few like that, the new dark red that the cobalt started in late 07 was my 2nd color choice on my ss/tc till i saw white, lol that sold the deal entirely.

Nice civic! I actually passed up the Si to get a brand new SS/TC. I really like the looks of the Si, but the torque difference between the 2 cars is incredible! After driving cars with no torque for a while, the SS was a breath of fresh air. Honda still makes a great car though

GM's sport red looks better than that orangish Civic above, again in my humble opinion.

Me, too, but no luck so far. When I initially went to order it (about 3 weeks ago) I was told it was going to be 120 days, not 60. Then, when we actually placed the order, it was 60 days. So, who knows?!

You're gonna get lots of compliments.Good choice it's worth the wait. I was just about to drive a black one off the lot and said screw it, and just rocked the LSJ for a month while waiting for the white. Interesting to know that you're having a hard time getting the perf display, in canada it is not available at all. The option code doesnt even exist. I took it all the way to the high courts of GM Canada and they confirmed that it was an option, but gave me all the info I needed to get it shipped to my dealership. The 09's just need a harness and the unit. However it's kind of blocky and I am having second thoughts. I may find an alternative solution.

tinted tail lights are overdone imo

^i dont like them on all cars, I think black cars make it look too black. but the red lights on the white to me personally just look outof place. Even if u dont tint them out all the way if u just put like 1 coat to make them look smoked Thatll be cool. I never thought I would ever tint my lights untill 1 day I did it on my yellow one and I think it looks good witht he black spoiler I got back there. It all depends on the overall look of the car and wether it fits. Personal choiice just my 2 cents.

honestly thats a pretty close argument, after alot of thought I vote those HID's just because they look outstanding. Where did u get them by the way, are they 3bspecialties or whatever? AND (newb question having never attempted any HID install) how hard are they to hook up? just changing a light bulb and mounting a ballast somehwere behind the light right?

i dunno about that, im in love with the TC rims. I dont even like the way they look powder coated, i like them as is.

The HID's are from a friend local to me, I met him of all places on newtiburon.com lol. My last car i decided i had wanted HID lowbeams and foglights so i went seaching for someone within Canada who had good kits. I happened to come across this guy in Vancouver and he mailed me the kits which looked sweet ass. Just recently, his brother and sister moved to Calgary to start another branch in their family business so his brother has a warehouse space leased with a big garage door at the back and room for 2 cars inside. He now does alot if HID kit installs(his brother) and did both my installs for 3000K fogs and 8000K low beams only and my friends ss/sc kit with 8000K fogs and high/low. Now........unfortunately guys, GM said FUCK YOU to HID kits, if u try and install HID's on an 09+ and i think 08's too, it will fry the aftermarket relay that comes with the kit. We spent 2 hours working on mine to try and make it work only to fry 2 relay harness's. The ss/sc worked perfect the first time we installed it but for some reason GM did something different that says FUCK YOU if it senses HID relays. The result, I am left with only Lowbeam HID's and absolutely no usage of my highbeams, that's another reason i put the HID foglights in. As for install, the foglights we had to trim 2 of the plastic clips on the HID bulbs so it fit properly, same had to be done on my friends ss/sc, easy to do and works perfect after. The lowbeams were a cakewalk to install, mount the ballast behind the headlights with a few zip ties and the mounting bracket, the foglight ballasts were even easier to mount, the drivers side we actually were able to screw it onto a bracket down there we found and the passenger side we mounted it to the OEM lower intake mount. All in all the foglights took us 2 hours to install with taking the front wheels off for easy access to the foglights behind the wheel liner. If anyone is interested in kits u gotta PM me, i haven't been able to get my guy to become a vendor yet as he just had a baby and doesn't have any spare time to speak of anymore lol..............wow this became a long ass post

With a good set of HID's in the range that actually gives you light 6000K or less) high beams are completely unnecessary. However people will flash at you with HID's in stock housings anyway... retrofit projectors FTW.

No you can't. Only the 09's can take the RPD. I couldnt get this as an option in Canada so GM worked with me to get it sent here. It was clearly stated that if I had an 08 this would not work. All it was, was a harness and the unit for me. Different programming in the 09's... Just relaying what GM told me.

I didnt really get into the details as to why the 08's cant use the RPD, but I am sure if you talk to you're dealership and dig around you can find the exact reason. I now have the only white 09 tc with a factory installed RPD in canada which gives me a pretty big e dick right now. Just kidding, its just a funky gauge.. I wasnt even going to go with it until the dealership called to let me know it came in... I cant remember telling them to order it... If you cant get it, who cares, there's lots of other routes to take.

not true at all..........dunno where your getting your info from but the Cobalt headlight(at least in my sstc) does not put light everywhere and little on the road.

I'm paying $500 under invoice, so I didn't care if it was on the lot or not. It's all about who you know, not about how well you can haggle. I'm hoping GM will be offering 0% financing by February, but if not, oh well. This car is a steal anyway you look at it.

I'm not worried if I get the rebates I just don't plan on paying MSRP especially in this economy.The wife told me to order the car I want even if it costs more, sooo yeah. Actually my hope is that when I do find someone that wants to sell the car to me (they are out there somewhere) for invoice or under that the car will be in around the end of Feb or sometime March when the weather is better, so really I'm in no hurry. I'm just glad to see they are making them.

On the last new car I bought I was dealing with three dealers and the car went from $16K down to $11.5K between the three. I even got a "no dicker sticker" dealership to drop their price by $1500 What was funny is I was willing to pay $12K which the dealer offered and I walked out of the office saying I"ll think about it, before I got out the door the guy said how about $11.5? So I'm looking for the dealer that wants to give a fair price, not tell me how they give back to the community and that's why it's MSRP. Yes I did hear that 3 weeks ago also from a guy who asked if I wanted the SS with the 2.4 engine and of course the "I'm new" line, which I've heard 3 times in the last month.

tis the big one, most call it the high rise spoiler or big wing, helps create downforce on the rear end of the car at high speeds. I love my to death and would never change it.

I would need to see proof of that wing actually contributing to the handling of the car. It just causes drag, and in my case attracted a lot of negative attention. The only information I have seen so far is that the drag it creates slows it down. It was the only thing I didnt like on my SC. Took a lot of jabs for it too, everywhere I went. I think it looks silly, but can understand that some may really like it. To each their own. I like the way my tc looks very sleeperish in the 17" alloys (winter setup).

Yeah, Last chevy I owned was a 99 Cavalier back in 2002 so I have been away from them for a while.

I wasn't planning on getting a sunroof anyway, but after hearing so many people complain about rattling sunroofs, that just adds another reason why not to get one.

I have never had a sunroof in any of my vehicles, I just don't like the idea of having a hole in my roof, and I wouldn't get a convertible either. I don't play in the sun.

booooo i haven't had any notable issues with my sunroof, it's friggin awsome and i'd feel naked without one. In the summer the extra airflow it creates is just BEAUTIFUL!!!

Agreed, it's $750 I don't need to spend, I had one on an accord and never used it in the summer and in fact kept the cover closed when driving so the sun didn't shine in the car to make it hotter, plus I've read about the rattles misalignments and water coming in the car because of blocked sunroof drains.

I placed my order back in November. I was told the build date would be 1/26, but then GM shutdown the Lordstown plant for the month of January. I had no updates, nor could the dealer give me any until he called the other day. He said it was built, and waiting on a truck to get a full load to bring it down to Columbus.

I didn't put down any money, so I can't speak to that. I would say just hang in there. You know GM has the parts to make these cars, it's just a matter of time for them to catch up on the backlog and then build yours.

I ordered the same car last Friday. I was told it will be pulled the first week in April. Then built at the end of April. I should have it in early May. Now this all depends on the status of GM in the coming months

My local dealers are giving me mixed info:

They said the last day to order was March 15, April 24, or May 1.

What prices are you getting? I found a few fully loaded SS Coupes for $22k out the door. None of the dealers are budging below employee price, which is still too high IMHO. I'd say the SS/TC is worth about $20k out the door at most.

They are obviously function over form (IMO) I simpy dont like em......looks like they belong on a Honda ricer. Sometimes cosmetic appeal has to be sacrificed to attain certain performance measures. I'd rather have a more appealing front end than have a front end that MIGHT gain .005 in the quarter. :P Course racing it will garner better results but I think they are U. G. L. Y

i had a Cwest front end on my old S13. that thing fit llike a glove and survived a crash that totaled my car. out of any body kits Cwest are top notch.
