Well, i think i'm going to go after an SS again. Took the cobalt over to the dealership today to get them to look at the front end. Ended up taking a 2.4L SS out. Going back tomorrow to play with some numbers. May have a set of tires for ya Pat.

I was driving from job site to job site today down town, and some girl passed me going down Robie in her SS 2.4, and for whatever reason, she gave me the ol stink eye... man if looks could kill..

Im tellin ya...Halifax cobalt owners are either in their 50's or just stupid. That dude with the red SS with the little tribal vinyl on the hood always parked at Bayers Lake timmies tried to tell me the cobalt was a JBody lol...i felt ashamed

I got the stink eye from the person driving the black one, I was being ncie and gave a slight wave to a fellow SS owner, and I get the look of death.

Figured I would finally post in this thread.. Black 2.4SS here. There are atleast 2 more in halifax that I know of by that description, but I'm sure I'm the only one with intake, exhaust, AND a trailer hitch :lol:


edit: Anyone in Halifax want to buy a K&N drop in for the 2.2 or 2.4? I think it probably has less than 1000km on it.

There are so many SS 2.4 and SS/SC around Halifax now, we're well past the point of people claiming...

"I'm the only one with this color" or "I'm one of 2 in town" etc.

The more the merrier, but I was at Tims on barrington st on lunch break from work, and a guy pulled up next to me and went on about how he was pissed because my car was the same color as his, he was convinced that he was the only Sunburst Orange 2.4 in town. I see easily a half dozen or more SS2.4 or SS/SC on my way to work everyday.

Mine is now also the cobalt with the inprint of a jeep in the side of it. I got hit by a drunk driver tonight. then when I got out, she thought it would be a good idea to drive off. Then the chase was on.. It ended with her losing control of the jeep on dunbrack and doing quite the number on the guard rail. Police were quick to respond as 911 was on the line through the duration of the event. Luckily no one was hurt. Acoording to the police everyone and their dog was driving drunk tonight.

Yeah, no serious injuries at all. The damage is mainly cosmetic. I work in bayers lake, but I was not off until 10:30, so you would not have seen me driving at 9:30 but I would have been parked.

I was hoping to get like $40 for the filter.. I still have the receipt for $62.37 including tax, and hardly used it at all. Still have the box and the sticker :P

It happened almost 11pm on saturday night, but sounds like it was my car you saw.

I go to SMU too. I drive the yellow LS you may see sometime. Theres a nice Yellow Pursuit always parked over by the tower.

I graduated from SMU in fall 2005 with a BSc now I'm at dal wrapping up Engineering.

I just put a magnaflow muffler on and left the stock tip. I think it sounds pretty nice. I figured worst case I hate it and splurge for the catback, but I just wanted to get rid of the stock garbage can. It definatly got louder when the intake got put on though.

On a side note the damage to the side of my car is going to cost ~$4600. Can't wait to get it fixed. I find it slightly embarassing driving a new car with a huge dent in the side.

No i cant say i ever seen that yellow persuit at the tower, i live in senior suites (ReZ) so i dont drive to school. I park my car undergroud loyola, sometimes they leave the door open, go chek it out. How much did u pay for your catback?? Did u notice a big power increase by adding the catback and cold air?

Got my car back today. They did a fairly decent job I guess. I need to go back later this week to get that black tape put on between the two side windows, at which time they will also replace my vent visor. Overall I am happy, but there a few spots on the paint I want to ask them about before I sign off on the work. On the plus side, they saved me the SS from the old door as a souvenir.

I got a job for 8 months in Labrador City (January-Sept 2007), so I'll probably be storing the cobalt in my parents garage. Sucks I wont be able to drive it all summer, but I dont think I can justify driving it there.

No codes and it sounds incredible. I got that one from the wreckers. All said and done, I spent $45 in parts and probably 3-4 hours moding it and painting it. Alot better than $200-300 for a new one

I droped the car off at O'regans on robie at 7am monday to get my winters put on (pretty good timing if you ask me).. once I finally got to Robie st.. only 2+ hrs drive from Bedford, it took me an hour to get back home in Clayton Park West.

Other than the usual idiots on the road the cobalt was great in the snow.

If you have an impact gun you really dont need a spring compressor. I put a set of eibach springs on an ss a few months ago and it took me 50 minuts to drop it....slick as heck. I just put my foot on the spring and took the top nut off with an impact gun, and you dont need to compress the spring for the lowering spring.

for my stock struts and lowering springs i still needed to use the compressor. there was not enough room. Safer that way too.

yeah id use the compressor, one of those puppies compressed can be a nice hole in someones fender hood or face for that matter if your not careful

we had our first ss 4 door 2.4l in the shop 4 days before christmas to get some brake work done when i picked the car up i was bootin down portland st when the thing locked up and slid around 50- 70 feet there damm macknic forgot to put the calaper bolt in it came off the router and jammed in to my rim nearly splitting the rim we all were banged up a bit (lawyer involved) but it was completly crazy anyway after 12 hrs at forbes they completly replaced my 06 auto ss with a loaded 07 5 spd ss 2.4 so if you get work done there def double check there work

i wouldnt until you get a new clutch, youd benefit from the exhaust work more... id look at the big bore throttle body if i was you !

Yeah you might be right for the exhaust work. But my dad wont be down for that, thats the prob (N).... I am paying the car, but the modds where gifts, and he wont modd my car unless it is covered under warranty. The dude said that if the exhasut throws codes, then they might not warranty my car anymore. And tag said that the exhaust might throw codes at the begininng. So thats the issue. I cant bring my car to any other dealer, cuz thats the best "leaning for modds" dealer around

the only codes you would throw would be off the back 02 sensor, and we can turn it off with hp tuners so its just a dummie... then you'll have no codes.

How about if I got a seperate PCM for the HPtune. Is that possible. Like have the original like at my house, and just program a whole new PCM. So in the case of emergency, just pop the original one back in?? is that possible. Or will that screw around with the KM of the car and stuff like that, that will in return get through my onstar to GM

its fucked up, in confident reflashing at the dealer, then reinstalling my flash will hopefuly fix it. and i dynoed 294 whp 261 torque with much the same mods plus snow water meth kit and a custom dyno tune, as did my buddy who got the exact same mods as me, and did the same tuning the same day on the same dyno, but, hes added 6 degrees of timing since with no knock, so hes higher for sure. Hes one of the 5 to have paid the deposit on the twinscrew swap, lucky fucker. Once i get my car running again, i might sell the water meth, and take timing out in favour of the exhaust i want and cams, but im most likely doing a twinscrew this spring at tag as well. It would be sweet to have the 3 boosted beast rolling around together this summer for sure, what color,year and make is your car potatoe?.

its been a while since i poseted, but my cobalts comin along. i think im almost done with it. its gonna be getting dropped 2.5 inches for the spring. should go nice with the 17's. got the cold air intake on, the cat back magnaflow exhaust, centerforce dual friction clutch, cross drilled/slotted rotors with the hawk brake pads. meh not sure what else i should do.... any suggestions nuthin crazy as i dont intend to keep the car for too much longer.....?
