View Full Version : How long does it usually take for a part to come in?

Hey, my little plastic thing on my shifter knob that shows the shift pattern fell off a couple months ago so i went to the dealer and they said they have to order a whole shifter, so i'm like that's nice, so do it. Like I stated, it's been 2 months and still nothing, I went there and checked to see if it came in and they said nope, still waiting. My question is, how hard is it to get something as simple as a shifter? Honestly, they could have gone to the moon and made one out of the rocks there by now. I'm just wondering if anyone else had to get something ordered and how long it took.

Also they said that there still is no fix for the vinyl on the door yet. (I thought I read somewhere that the fix was supposed to be ready for February)

Thanks :cssNET: :ca:

for some reason every part for these cars is hard to get... the front lip is nearly impossible to get quickly. door panels take about 4 weeks and if they are fucked up you are looking at another 2 months... i have been waiting for 3.5 months for new door panels and handles.... it take forever for parts for this car.... just be patient...

P.S. mine broke off too but i haven't had time to go to the dealer so i glued it back on... yay for super glue...

I don't have to pay for it, it's under warranty, otherwise I wouldn't get it.

we used to get our parts at the dealership within 3 - 10 business days. just make sure the dealer is actually ordering the part because sometimes they will just give you the run around because the part was never ordered in the first place. happens all the time. the parts counter, service advisor or tech will forget and nothing will ever get ordered.

mine broke last year before my vacation (Same thing), they ended up ordering me a new shifter to replace it, come to find out they did not have a shifter anywhere in stock last summer. There was only one dealership in AZ that had mine and they would not relinquish it. After a quick call to GM the shifter was at my dealership the next day and replaced :)

You must put a bug in someones ear to get this taken care of. It's one thing for the dealership to give you the run around but a ticket is actually placed in the system for the call to GM and they don't stop bothering the dealership until the customer says everything is ok.

I ordered a new Hurst Shifter because I think mine is ready to break again, not that I am rough on it, just a cheap shifter. B&M feels cheap too (IMO). The ball on the Hurst shifter has a stainless steel ball with the shift pattern engraved.

sometimes when u order parts they will come in right away. the next it's b/o forever. all depends what they have in stock. if they need stock for production of new vehicles u get the shaft until they get more. I have a G6 in the shop that we have been wating for the right quarter panel now for 6 weeks. Customer in a rental. Nothing we can do just wait it out.

That was probably the one I waited 4 months for. :cussing:

Bug them again to make sure it got ordered.
