So..I went to the track today for the 1st time..

I'm not used to fwd and so it was a task for me to launch it. Anyways, after getting a few launches down i was running some slow ass times, and i was thinking, my launches arent THAT bad to be running high 14's or 15 flats. So i poped to the hood to see maybe if i had a boost leak. There was this one hose, that was kinda ruff looking and which was the only one that i assumed could be a leak from. Ran it again, only running a little over 10 lbs . My best time was 14.7, so i wonder what i could have ran on the normal 12.5. Oh, and while i was looking for the boost leak, i noticed somehting unusual in my engine bay..i dont know wtf this thing is but it looks like a brick or something jammed between my tranny n somethign else. ( dont ask cause i reeally dont know). But yeah taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

ps. what you guys think i could of run on normal boost, using the fact that i ran 14.7 on about 10lbs?

Pic of said brick?

Drag Racing is tough man. Don't assume it's the car's fault. I, for one know I suck at driving and my car is faster than what I can do as a driver. Get some practice, you'll get better or snap an axle. haha

Wont be able to get a pic until maybe 2mrw, but yeah, i give you guys props lol for launching fwd. its not that easy. But it technically was the cars fault tho...10 lbs

its you, not the car

A. Boost MEANS NOTHING! What was your trap speed?
B. do you have anything to monitor iat1 and iat2?
C. 2.3 is bad, your launch is bad ...or should I say average which is messing up the whole run.
D. Stock boost gauge is really inaccurate.
E. what was the temp outside?

I think a 14.7 is pretty respectable for a stock ss/sc

It really just takes a lot of practice, and if practice doesn't get you there, spray lol.

As far as your boost leak and the brick in the tranny, you're doing the right thing by taking it to the dealer. You obviously don't know a lot about your car, so taking it to the dealer is the right choice. *sorry if that sounded dickish, wasn't trying to be*

For better times you might want to try some drag radials. Contrary to popular belief on these forums, drag radials will help you NOT brake an axle. Axles brake because of wheel hop and the sudden transfer of weight instantly. What happens when your on normal street tires is they sit and spin when you launch and then suddenly hook. This sudden hook causes a lot of stress on the axles, to the point where they can both snap.

So, I would recommend getting either stage 2 axles and drag radials, or just drag radials and learning how to drive. If you spin the drag radials and then they hook, you bet your bottom dollar they will snap an axle, however if you keep using street tires and spinning them before they hook, your axles won't last much loner!

Hope this helps, good luck bro.

^Yes it is.

I ran 14.8 with a 2.3 60ft time when my SC was just 2 weeks old with 500 miles on it.

And I know it's tough to launch these cars, but 60 ft. times have got to come down on these cars for them to run decent times.

A 2.3 60 ft. ain't bad, but it really isn't that good either ...

I wouldn't go so far as to say that my bone stock 14.8 or adamo41188's 14.7 is real good.

Alright maybe, but not real good.

I got 6 runs in my first time at the track.
Stock w/ Perelli pZero Nero's (cheaper than the stock Rosso's).

Ironically my first run (ever) was my best of the day. 14.8@97 2.4 Sixty .298 rt
The rest of my runs were just over 15.

So... I dont think you have a whole lot to worry about other than this mysterious "brick"

BTW... I came across this thread searching because I'm only getting 10psi max at the moment. Trying to figure out the cause. I was getting a full 12.5 at the track.

That brick you were talking about...did it look metallic with like a dark green stripe? Because we have what I think is a counter weight down there that looks very random

That's what I ran stock, but instead of trying to perfect launching on street tires, I said **** it and got to modding.

i ran 14.7 stock
14.2 stage 2

now 13.9s with 2.8 60ft times.

more power = harder to get lower times on street tires. plus i need to limit my boost more than 50% in 1st..... or get DRs

When i ran my car all i had done was a cai and ran a 14.3 and a 14.5. I believe i still have the slips around here somewhere. Oh yeah and 60fts were 2.2 both times.

Just found my boost leak the other day. One of the vac hoses that come out of the bypass valve was dried out and started cracking. Popped a new hose on... good as new.
