View Full Version : Is it time Yet ??
c7015 03-07-2006, 03:39 PM Alright people from Ontario/Surrounding area (specifically southern Ontario) what are your predictions
with the recent warm weather coming in do you think I should throw back on the Summer Rims and Tires ..
I think there is a good chance that we might get One maybe two more snows this year but I think for the most part the bad weather is done and its a good time to put back on the summer tires ...
I am soo sick of the winters and since I am going to Australia for most of the summer :) I wont have all that much time with them on and I am anxious
...what do you think ?

plyboy-illest 03-07-2006, 03:43 PM im holding off till april there no rush
Ya, I know I live further west, but wait until April, then you can be much more certain. It is not unusual in Canada to get a big dump at the end of March or early April.
c7015 03-07-2006, 04:08 PM im holding off till april there no rush
I'm in such a rush ..since I wont be here most of the fun months
Permafried- 03-07-2006, 04:21 PM I'm chomping at the bit to take the damn things off but I have a feeling we could possibly get one more blast before winter is gone for good. Unfortunately I have to drive on the highway this weekend with my winters on for a buddy's stag so the tires are going to be taking a bit of a beating. The weather has been so unpredictable though I'm almost afraid to take them off now since it can be 8C one minute and a complete whiteout the next.

I hear ya ..i have to drive to strath everyday ... I'm thinking that if its just one blast or two I can get by, by driving the Subaru
plyboy-illest 03-07-2006, 04:29 PM I hear ya ..i have to drive to strath everyday ... I'm thinking that if its just one blast or two I can get by, by driving the Subaru
i dont even think we will get a big blast maybe a light dusting might be all... but still even with the light dusting that we may or may not get better to wait 3-4 more weeks
RedBaseBolt 03-07-2006, 04:37 PM I've already got mine on:D! Got them installed last Friday.
Permafried- 03-07-2006, 04:48 PM I hear ya ..i have to drive to strath everyday ... I'm thinking that if its just one blast or two I can get by, by driving the Subaru
If I see a streak of weather for the next week and a bit I'll consider pulling them off then and putting them in storage...my summer ones weren't great on the snow but if I take my time in town I should be alrite. I'm too used to being able to plow through it without really worrying about it which would be a bad idea with the MXV4s .
distillion 03-07-2006, 04:59 PM time for summer tires????
was there ever a time not for summer tires ?
Hutch 03-07-2006, 05:02 PM Never took off my originals. Still too early to remove the winters up here if your traveling outside of London. My predictin is 2nd week in April. One more blast left in her.
Oh ya...how do I know....cause my dogs haven't shed their winter coats yet.

typically called winter ..you are much braver than me if you went all winter on the P zero's ...then again Toronto/Missasauga dosn't get as much snow as the surrounding areas
I will put you down for a yes since you didnt vote
dcshoes23 03-07-2006, 05:42 PM I think it's too early still, I'm eager to put them on too but I'm going to wait a 3-4 more weeks.
2006ArrivalBlueSS 03-07-2006, 06:32 PM Does nobody remember what happended on April 1st, 2005? I had just put my summers on that morning and had to re-intsall the winters that afternoon.
Mine are getting put on tommorw!! BIATCH Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!
Screw it if it snows i just won't go anywhere, I live on base so i really dont need to go anywhere
c7015 03-08-2006, 09:20 AM Despide the overwheming WAIT !!! vote ..I think I am goign to do it anyway ... I'll talk a look at the poll again before I decide and the updated forcast that will take me well past mid march
STi_WRX02 03-08-2006, 09:48 AM Trust me, wait till april 1st at least. Last year I got eager beaver and slapped on my summer tires (Falken Azenis) and I got caught in a light snowfall and I almost bit the dust. Understeered like a mofo going into a turn and plowed into sumones driveway and lawn. Luckily i didn't curb anything.

jjo69 03-08-2006, 08:48 PM I could only hope that everone would put their summer rims & tires on early because sure as sh*t it will snow. This happends every year & we always get about 40 or so customers that get into accidents. I would say WAIT but for those of u that don't Keep Up The Good Work, I get paid commission. I hope u guys wait I don't want to anybody here have that happen to them.:cssNET:

Musta really had to twist your rubber arm if that was all it took to get the summers back on . My winters took a pretty severe kicking on the highway this weekend...surprisingly they didn't wear nearly as much as I thought they would considering on Saturday afternoon they were soft as all hell with the warm temperatures we had. I'm going to keep trying to hold out until April just to be safe but everytime I see one like mine with the summers on it gets that much harder :). Nice pics btw as well...couldn't have picked a better day to take 'em either.

R33P3R007 03-13-2006, 10:56 AM crazzy pics. Good job puting the rims back on. it's going up to 78 here today

It sure was, couldn't complain one bit. I took advantage of the weather and spent 2.5 hours detailing my interior even with snow in the forecast for this week. She looks good as new again and I'm not missing the winter mats one bit. Here's hoping ot doesn't snow enough to warrant the city laying salt and sand on the roads again though, otherwise I'll be right back at it again come Saturday afternoon.
KAOS Kid 03-13-2006, 08:44 PM I bought an awesome pair of performance winter tires. Eat up snow and slush and drive amazing in the recent dry cool weather. Temp is still too cool for summer tires.
Asphalt Assault 03-28-2006, 11:03 AM I bought an awesome pair of performance winter tires. Eat up snow and slush and drive amazing in the recent dry cool weather. Temp is still too cool for summer tires.
surprisingly in manitoba it is not to cool. at night we have been +2 and highs almost double digit (average 5 degrees).
My summer tires have been on this week. why? well it is warm and yeah we could get a snow fall that be around for a day or two but I almost rear ended someone cause of the temp here and the streets are wet. the winter tires did not offer much. summer tires were like night and day difference.
If we get snow I dont have to drive either
c7015 03-28-2006, 11:54 AM well to give an update I gambled with the weather and got lucky ... it did flury once but nothing to even think about since the roads were still fine
so

RicerHater 03-28-2006, 01:16 PM Horray for SPRING....Bring on the summer tires...and RIMS!!
SSBlondie 03-28-2006, 05:26 PM I put mine on last week, so glad I did - what a difference to see the big shiny tires again! The snow's pretty much gone here, and the salt's off the road, but we're left with plenty of potholes due to all the ice we got this year.:ca:
Funny, I voted against putting them on, and think we'll still get a little snow but nothing to worry about IMO.
Permafried- 03-28-2006, 05:29 PM I think pretty much all us Londoners jumped on the bandwagon at the same time...the temptation was too great! Glad I made the switch as well...not only does the car look better but it's back to the ride I prefer...now if only summer would hurry the hell up and get here, I'm missing those patio bars.
SOOOO... just an update, It's now March 28th still no snow it's actually been pretty damn nice. tmrw its suppoed to be 12 degrees outside and for everyone still on steelies, grow a pair and put ur wheels back on!

Not Cool...... 2 months before i even start thinking about summers, and likely another month after that until i can put them on... and then End of september is when they will go back on.
Asphalt Assault 02-23-2007, 09:45 AM yeah we have to move from here Lindze. it is not cool to be cool in this case!??

06ssclark 02-24-2007, 09:08 PM I think it is a month too early still, last year I brought the car out after the first good week in march and regretted it, when in the third or fourth week we got dumped on and the car was covered, not to ride again til a week or so into April
March 10th summers go back on
That's a pretty exact date.
As soon as theres a consistent 2 weeks of +5 then mine go on.

red-SS 02-27-2007, 12:35 PM you might aswell put the summers back on cause I don't think we aer getting anymore crazy snowfall, and plus I have been driving around on bald stockers and havn't really had a problem
RedBaseBolt 02-27-2007, 12:42 PM you might aswell put the summers back on cause I don't think we aer getting anymore crazy snowfall, and plus I have been driving around on bald stockers and havn't really had a problem
I've almost crashed 3 times already this winter. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had traction in the snow I wouldn't have been able to avoid the person(s) spinning out in front of me and almost hitting me. I am just nervous I guess.

SoloZ/SS 03-11-2007, 11:10 PM I was pretty close to changing mine but didn't have time for it, some time this week I guess.
c7015 04-19-2007, 11:35 PM Shit this is an old thread ... lol but it is that time again ... I am going to get some on tomorrow I hope
I need to buy new tires too ...what kind are we going with these days ... I went to costco and they want like 344 a tire for kdw >>
SoloZ/SS 04-20-2007, 01:29 AM Check www.tires23.com or ca. I bought some tires about a year ago from them and they gave me a good price. They are based in Missisuaga. I actually just installed some Falken Azenis RT 615's and so far they are nice, I haven't had a good chance to push the car with these on it but from past driving on the older style azenis these will be really good.
