Hey, Ive got an orange SS, 2.4L

I really like it so far. I've had an underbody orange neon kit put on it within about hte last week or so, and it looks awesome. The front light is mounted inside of the lower grill,a nd makes the front grill have an orange glow. It looks really nice. But yea, I'm not far from ya at all, at least close enough to be able to go to Memphis and back in a day.

I am in Cordova. I have already put mine through the paces at the track. The clutch went to the floor on the 4th run, so I won't run it anymore seeing that I don't to have to put a new clutch in it. Hey everyone, what's up? Well, it seems like every other state has PLENTY of cobalts, and well, we do, but just nobody thats ever on here. OK, well, has everybody heard about the GM Small Car BAsh that will be going on in Marion, IL? Now I'm sure most of you probably don't know where Marion is, so let me try and describe where it is. OK, I live in Union City, its in the NW corner of the state, where US 45, US 51, and State Highway 22 meet. About 2 and a half hours north of here is Marion. In fact, ya just go up to Paducah, KY (about 1 hour away), and then cross the river over to Ohio and its not that far up there on 24/57. OK, well, for you people from Nashville and east and middle, its not hard either. Just go to Nashville on whichever various highway or intrstate you wish. Then follow 24 North into Kentucky, and you will end up in Paducah.

we got hurt but are better now and have a layweer etc the cobalt did pretty good it was about 40 45 mph carsh at time of impact air bags are a bitch it happened at nolensville and haywood lane if you fimilar with the area

Red looks really good on an SS. Some ideas I've seen and heard would probably be a pretty simple list, at least for visual stuff. For performance parts, I have a 2.4, so I'm not really in the best position to adivse ya there.

Anyway, you could paint your brake calipers red. It looks really nice. Also, you could tint your taillights.

i got a '06 cobalt LT silver,tinted windows,magnaflow muffler and a K&N drop in air filter but its an automatic. quick and fun to drive so if yall ever come down to olive branch maybe yall see me ripping up and down the road.

Alright here's the ideas I've come up with. We can shoot for a Meet on Saturday March 1st during the day. I will attempt to get us some parking availability nearby the pyramid. (which is a great photo op, and easy to find for those coming in to town). Saturday is generally a better day to do this meet taking into account EVERYBODY. Plus that means that once we finish our meet, Beale street is walking distance away for some after-meet co-mingling

We can hold the Meet on 3/14/08. Which is a Friday evening. And that way once we finish our meet, (gasp) it's the first night of Midnight Madness at Memphis Motorsports Park (weather permitting) So any newborn rivalries can be settled later that night.
For those of you that don't know. Midnight Madness is open night for ANY car on the drag strip. $20 to race as much as you want, $10 to spectate. 10pm-2am. Helmets are required for 13sc cars. There are ALWAYS some heavy hitters there, so don't be surprised if you find yourself next to a older fastback Mustang running 9's. And there are a godawful number of bikes running 8's and 9's.
(Just a note. The midnight Madness is notorious for being cancelled for weather[anything more than a slight mist will shut it down] or for any other damn reason they feel like it. So That's not a guarantee.
OR
if we have enough interest in this meet (100+), We will push it off until sometime this summer. I will try and finagle Memphis to let us use a parking lot on the pyramid grounds. And we can open the meet up to let patients and families at St. Jude Children's research hospital come crawl all over your nice shiny rides. If we go this route, I will also open the meet up to ANY interested car forum or group. (I volunteer at the hospital, and they love any new ideas of activities for the kids.) I will also invite our supporting vendors and local business to sponsor the event. Pass out products, stickers, business cards, whatev. IF we have enough interest in this and people here are willing to help pull this together. Otherwise let's just stick with a cobalt only meet, and kick it on Beale afterwards.

ive just been busy working trying to save money so i can get those rims put on :lol:

Just as an update. The Memphis meet is still in the works. I have spent the better part of this morning on the phone with first the Tennessee Bureau of Recreation and Tourism, who transferred me to the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, who transferred me to the city Council, who transferred me to the Mayor's Office, who transferred me to the Cook Convention Center, who finally told me they can't answer me just yet.

From all this I've determined that the pyramid is literally the largest game of "Hot potato" in existence. No one wants to claim enough ownership of it to tell me either yes or no.

But my last phone call was a resounding "maybe". Unfortunately as us local Memphians know, since the Pyramid was officially shut down, Bass Pro Shops has been bidding to reserve the ginormous empty building to set up shop in, and Memphis is resolutely holding out for something better. So until the issue is decided, No one can get permission to use any of the massive empty parking lots for any event.
On a side note, the private parking lots that used to border the pyramid have all been shut down, fenced in, and put up for sale. So those are out too.

I'm working on it guys. If I don't hear an answer soon, I'll see about getting some space on Mud Island, or possibly using a nearby Local Park. But we probably aren't going to make a March Meet happen with such short notice, so I'm shooting for April or May.

Saturday April 19th 3pm -6pm!!!! Mark your calendars and take off work bisnitches.

The official word on using the pyramid parking is "Hell No."
BUT, as it was explained to me, the parking lot is open to the public, just not open to organizations. So if you want to drive over there and take some shots with YOUR car, no problem.
So, We are going to use a local park that is located next to the river, That is technically public property and therefore we don't need permission to gather there. It is located less than 1500 feet from the pyramid, and actually has an awesome backdrop of the Memphis Bridge over the Mississippi river, and there is parking for approximately 100 vehicles there.
However, since it IS a public park, I can do nothing about other people parking there. So we run the distinct possiblity of showing up and not being able park together.
So as a contingency plan, we can move this into downtown and use the rooftop parking at one of the parking garages. This is paid parking, but it's fairly reasonable, and is probably where you're going to end up if you hit up Beale Street afterwards. And we're pretty much guaranteed parking together as nothing is scheduled for downtown that weekend.

Have I mentioned that this is also the weekend for the Super Chevy Show at Memphis Motorsports park all that weekend? Well FYI, this is also the weekend for oh you get the point. Spectator parking for THAT event ...is....FREE. Gates open at 7am and close at 5pm Registration and scheduling information can be found at

Downtown memphis isn't actually that bad. Just STAY in the downtown area. Don't wander off exploring and expect to not get jacked.

I know you have done alot of planning for this meet and we all appreciate it. I grew up in memphis and finally got out in 1995 and never looked back. I live 10 miles south of memphis and very rarely venture up there. There's just no safe place up there. Even CNN is broadcasting about 6 murders in one house. Local newscasts show murders,carjackings,robberies everyday all over the city including downtown. I will be there but against my better judgement. I like being around other cobalts/owners. Infact I showed my cobalt at the 2006 NOPI nationals in atlanta. So just let me know when the meet is and I will be there.

I stayed in downtown memphis right in that area a few months ago and it was not bad at all so it will be fine

The main area's in downtown are actually HEAVILY patrolled by law enforcement. You acutally can't walk anywhere on Beale street or Peabody Street without being in sight of a uniformed cop. It's when you start getting too far east or too far south that you start running into bad areas.

Born and raised here...lived in Austin, TX from 9/98 till 1/00, other than that brief escape I've been here wasting away in the Mid South.

I added stripes to my car this weekend. I hope to get my mesh grills in by the time we meet. I only have a cobalt LT but it looks and sounds good. Now that I'm on the list im really excited about this idea.

ahhh common now. I drove 3 hours to the memphis meet alone and it will be 5 hours to joneboro by myself too...Dont wuss outDude, couldn't you find a date between here and there? JK- I'm a smartass like that;)

I've only been driving regularly for about a year. I'm still a little nervous in traffic, especially if I'm alone in the car. Piddling around Millington and Tipton County ain't no thang, and stay the hell outta my way if I'm going to work, but traffic in unfamiliar territory scares the shizznit outta me. I've been on the interstate ONE time and was following my bf so close our cars would be legally married in some states. :lol:

Me and the car will be in FL for the first part of May, so meetin' up with any of y'all before then is out. Any other time shouldn't be a problem as long as the ol' ball-and-chain isn't working that weekend. Hey I might even convince him to install my new spoiler by then. That would be kewl.:cool:

I am in wynne ar right now and the meets that I have been to with these guys have been a blast. I don't know when or where the next meet is going to be but we should see some info pop up soon.

I have decided to road trip my car to a meet in chatanooga tn on aug 2. its a tn,al,ga meet. therefore I will NOT be hosting a mississipi meet before august. But I'll still go over to wynne for more weekend partying or we can all meet up at the track in memphis one night. JULY 4th weekend I'll be at spring river in arkansas. I got a 10 man tent and my group of friends have other tents so all are welcome. oh yea marco mikkis 18 yrold daughter will be there too.

That sounds like a shit load of fun but we are going back to Texas for that weekend.

We did 4 sparkler bombs tonight and I think we got it perfected. We did one and it was loud as HELL! It sounded like 10 of those artillery shells going off at once and there was really no flames at all. I wish I knew we were going to do something early but it was really spur of the moment. Plus Doug's 1 year old son died early today so we were kinda occupied with that mentally for a while. It was kinda something we put together to keep our mind off of it.

Sorry I didnt get back to you man, but I forgot all about my post in here, LOL. I ended up getting an 08 SS/TC. Its a badass car man and there are a few mods out for it already.
