6th speed conversion
The only benefit I can think of is the fact that most 6 speeds have closer ratios than our 5 speeds. It kind of annoys me that our 2nd gear is so much taller than first so when you rev it up to 3000 rpm and shift to second the revs drop to 1600 and the car bogs. Generally there will be no gas milage benefit as our cars have two overdrives already 4th= 0.89, 5th= 0.70. Most overdirves do not go any higher than 0.70 anyway.
I have definitely noticed that driving this thing like a fuel sipping econo-car does not work as well as driving it in the high RPM range...everything just feels better up there...
taller 1st gear shorter everything else... so you get off the line better and go through the gears more quickly. and it gives better gas milage i think. also you are in the powerband of each gear better in each shift so you have a bit more power right away when you shift
alot of the 6th gear trannys are more along the lines of .5

And going through more gears will likely slow you down...why do you think drag cars only have two gears?
i said i think it gives better gas milage i wasnt sure... most top fuel cars dont have gears.
on a road coarse more gears to keep you in the powerband is better. it all depends on what you do with the car.

I think the SS/TC is pretty unique in that the torque is all the way across the RPM range...for instance, on the C&D Lightning lap, they said they ran almost the whole track in 3rd gear...no need for more gears when you get maximum power and torque throughout the entire gear...
I feel that way about my S/C. Third gear is the **** but I am considering the 6 spd
Yeah, if I remember correctly the 6 spd's ratio is very close to our stock 5

The course where I race at, myself and most of my instructors prefer the setup on the SS/SC to other 6 speed setups. Only gears I need once I'm rolling are 3rd and 4th and I stay square in the middle of both of them. Although on the front stretch, it pushes REALLY close to the end of 4th.
