Thumbs down GM doesn't make brake pad's for the SS/TC yet?

Soooo my car has 13,500miles on it right now and the rear brake pads and rotors were grinding metal on metal. I took it to the dealer because the rotors are covered under the warranty, I would have to pay for the pads. Well the dealer got pads delivered from NAPA but they are the wrong size. they have the 08 pads listed as the same ones for the 05-07, but they are too small and they can't get other ones that fit. So the service guy calls GM and tries to get some and they tell him that they don't have a manufacturer thats producing them yet. GM tells the guy to just issue me a rental for as long as it takes. I was like why can't they just call Lordstown and have them ship a set to you? he just laughed and said that would be nice. I have no clue how long its going to take, but hopefully not too long. for GM

Your working with morons.

Of course they have parts out for any car. After all they BUILD them. Granted I couldn't buy a conventional fog light bulb for my 08 Canyon and it had to be dealership ordered from GM since they don't sell the type of bulb I was looking for at any auto parts or aftermarket lighting company. That was a horse of another color.

I ended up finding out I could use a low beam bulb for the fog lamps and it put out even greater light output then the fogs did. Amazing...

Even the dealer couldn't order them....when they look up the part number it says "NOT YET AVAILABLE" they even called GM in Detroit and thats where they said they aren't produced yet......

I'm amazed your rears wore out that fast. Have you checked your e-brake cable? Almost sounds like they would have had to be rubbing to wear out that fast.

wrong, right now with GM's situation, they have put a stop to a great many number of stock parts, they can't afford to pay the supplier to manufacture them anymore, not until the bailout anyway.......i'm sure a few ppl will get stuck in rentals and we all hate being in them but at least GM is paying for the rental and protecting your ability to stay on the road and get to work ect ect. After the new year i'm sure things will settle back to normal and parts will be easily avaliable.

LOL no **** I would be demanding a car that costs the same or has the same performance.

I am sure some one has pads that fit the calipers..... Brakes have only been around a million years..

FTW

I would ask them if the calipers are on any other types of vehicles for the rear and compare them.

you cant steal stuff from the line, each individual part is assigned to a specific car, if you leave a part out, you have to put that vehicle aside until they make a serivicable part. We had this issue when the chrysler 300s came out. waiting months on parts.

It took my dealer two weeks to get me a tire. I had a rental, but I still missed my SS.

I seriously love this car so much more after driving pure boredom for the past two weeks.

You'd think, but GMPD has the front pads in their catalog. Expensive suckers, too.

do you people relize that the rear brakes are new too for '08
idk all the details, but the rotors are definately larger, so most likely a change of caliper and pads too

also idk if the are "borrowed" for another vehicle line, even at that, they could still be a different compound

What is it with GM and not having the parts to fix their shitty broken down vehicles?

I hope they go bankrupt and disappear. GM FTL.

I think it is a matter of finding the specs of the rear calipers before anyone makes the assumptions of not being able to get pads.

Isn't the brembos from the HHR the same in the rear and I have a 2008 HHR rear brake pads in stock right now at this website..

not the same nice try.....i think it is a matter of believing what some people say when they say, there are none available from gm before making the assumptions that they didn't look at the specs and/or try to cross reference
