Q and A?? Stoon.

Hey guys and gals, i just purchased a 09 cobalt ss turbo, now obviously i dont want to void the warranty in anyway, but i want to boost up the HP and fix a few problems i have already noticed. . .

Steel rims. . do they make them?? ones that fit over the calipers?
also, why do my breaks make loud noises every time i slow down.

Air intake. . worth it?? i got 260 hp stock so far. .

What other performance mods can i put on that wont screw with my warranty. .

Thanks in Advance

Glen.

gm is making/fine tuning a stage kit for the sstc. uhm basic bolt on should be fine really as long as they are not the concern of the problem they shouldnt say or do anything about it. and if they do, oyu have the law on your side

they would have to be 18inch steelies to fit over the brake calipers.

what kind of brake noise clunk, screech, squeek, etc ?

cold or warm brakes ?

some noise is going to happen they are performance brakes, but im just trying to understand what you are hearing

squeek is mainly it. . and it happens when they are both warm and cold. . i only have 1800km on it so far. . but it really is annoying and all. and no 18 inch steelies are made that i can find. .
and im not sure which intake i would buy. .

buying 2, 12 inch Kicker Subs and a 1500w amp to put into the car here in a couple weeks... should be one of the loudest cars in the city. .

There's been a few people having issues with the brakes on those cars. And just FYI it's 260 HP at the crank in the turbo SS. I believe that the 16 inch steelies I have will also clear the brakes on the turbo SS but i'm not sure about that. I think i paid just under 1000 for them a few years ago with rubber for winter tires. If you're looking at getting these for winter tires i suggest going as small of a rim as you can since the rubber is much cheaper. The tires I'm using for winter tires are the same as the cavi/sunfire's use so they are fairly easy to find.

Gonna need a lot more than that kicker stuff and 1500w to be one of the loudest in this city.... I should know, work at one of the local audio shops in town

If ya got any other questions there's lots of guys around S'toon that can give you good info. Myself and another member on here are very familiar with HP Tuners for these vehicles as well.

i really doubt there is any steel wheels that fit. it seems to be a hard enough time finding any wheels that fit.
and the brakes squeal because its a gm.
put an exhaust on that bitch, throw an intake on it, and let raptors play with it. wont regret it

are the SS/TC calipers that much larger that the SC's that you'd have to go to 18" steelies? You should be the guy to know this more than I would. I didn't have too many problems finding 16"s for mine, they just don't list them to fit for these cars so I had to find some that fit saab 9-3.

from what ive read, its more offset than anything. the calipers are bulky, and the spokes of most wheels rub. either need a spacer, or a wheel with one hell of an offset
