Recall On 08/Tc Steering Wheel

Well i took my car to the dealer today. Turns out there is a recall on the 08/Tc's Steering Wheel. The recall suppose to fix vibration in wheel when braking from fast speeds and turning. So if you experience this problem, take it to your dealer for replacement.

PM me your VIN number, I want to look up your car to see if this is independant of the front rotor recall from earlier on this year.

It was titled: "SERVICE UPDATE-STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION/RPL FRONT BRAKE ROTORS-EXP W/BASE WARR" and I could easily see someone saying it was a steering wheel recall. Just want to double check since I don't have any new RFA's (required field actions aka = quiet recall) for my VIN.

That NOT the steering wheel, it's the rotors, had it done 2 weeks ago. Same title.

You sure thats correct? The way the GM system works is you can put in either the full 17 digit VIN or the last 8 numbers. It shows the same vehicle, just 2 different ways for doing it.

Reason I say that is there is no result for 1G1AP18X087307219 and the vehicle I show for the last 8 digits of that VIN is a Cobalt 4 dr LT sedan.

EDIT: saw the corrected VIN

The only thing you have for RFA is the rotor recall, the one I mentioned above titled "SERVICE UPDATE-STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION/RPL FRONT BRAKE ROTORS-EXP W/BASE WARR". I can see why they would tell you its for the steering wheel though since its in the title, but its actually a brake rotor replacement and the sympton is a steering wheel vibration.

I know, I was just trying to explain that its possible whoever was telling killalee (dealership folk) about the issue likely misread what the recall was actually on.

The service reference number is 08242 if you just want to confirm with him its the same thing. I should have the most up to date info though.

ok i'll confirm but im pretty sure your right if there was another post about this. besides it would make more since that the vibration would be coming from the rotor and not the steering rod

Is there any way I can check if my car has this recall? Its a 2006 2.4 but the steering wheel shakes like mad whenever I brake

this recall was only for the brembo brakes in a specific VIN range (there were only a few hundred vehicles affected)
