Can TC Reach 500HP?

Does anybody know or think that the new 08 and 09 tcs can reach 500hp if not close to it?

If so, does anyone thing it will be ready to go up against a Mustang Cobra/shelby gt 500?

Im curious to know what mods besides stage 4, 5 turbo would u do to reach high numbers in the TC?

We all know stage 3 turbos are anywhere from 350-400hp. So what are the possibilities?

Dude you won't need 500whp to beat a gt500. Remember that

1) they don't make 500whp

2) A bit heavier than your car

I'd give you....between 390whp-450whp to beat one

make sure to get your traction mods, and get strong supporting mods and you'll be set to go!

Well Synapse made like 370whp on theirs, and thats running a stock turbo, plus the car hasn't even been out for a full year yet....

....so i'd say a 500whp SS/TC is easily on the horizon.

I used to have a Mustang with a 408 in it. It was putting down just about 500rwhp on pump gas and I was running 10.8's on drag radials all day. With me in it, the car weighed 3050 pounds. It was a total monster.

I recently weighed my Cobalt SS/TC and with me in it the total was 3040 pounds. Just trying to imagine my Cobalt with similar power to what the Mustang had is a terrifying prospect. I barely got traction with the huge radials on the Mustang. In a FWD car, you would be smoking the tires in every gear but 5th!

Deep down I would love to see somebody give that a shot though. I hope these cars can take that power (even for just a little bit) just so I can see how they would perform.

As for the GT500's, a stock one should run in the high 12's with a decent driver. With just a basic pulley upgrade, tune and tire swap though, I have seen them get as low as 11.2. It won't be easy to keep up with them in the straights but in the corners you would destroy them.

there is an enormous difference between 400whp and 500whp. I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if the lnf internals could handle that kind of power.

Who said it would have stock internals? I highly doubt the LNF would hold 500whp on a stock bottom end as well. 4G63's can hold up to about 500whp on a stock block, but even then, thats very risky and prone to be disastrous.

I'm just saying, I see a 500whp SS/TC on the horizion.

how are you planning on doing that? are you getting an ss/tc and modding the **** out of it?

i hope you guys realize to hit 500whp you are gonna have to spend GOBS of money.

-bigger turbo
-fuel system upgrades
-cooling upgrades
-axles
-tranny work
-suspension if you dont want to hit a tree and die
-most likely rods/pistons
-FULL exhaust.
-strong clutch
-lots of tuning

and more...

trust me projects like this have lots of snags and if it is your dd i would just scrap the dream right now.

wow, missinformation. Synapse was definitely NOT on stock turbo. They were on a GT2871rs.

I also don't think 500WHP is very attainable on a ss/tc. I think 500 CRANK hp is, but I think 500WHP probably wouldn't last too long.

My bad.

I'm pretty sure the OP was referring to stock internals. If not, he should clarify.

well since you bring it up-

if he wasn't talking about a stock block then what's the point in asking?

if you give me ANY car and allow me to swap internals, tranny, etc. basically build the whole drivetrain, i could make it hit 500whp...
