I spoke with my close friends at Gateway Chev. They can get Stage 2 for you guys at the cost of $1075. That does not include installation. I have no idea what others are charging, so if anyone is interested, reply in this thread.

That still seems too high. I'm probably gonna buy my own parts (pulley, injectors) and get it flashed at the dealer, if possible. Personally, I think the kit should be somewhere around $500 mark.

Well, I seen it in front of my own eyes, dealer cost on stage 2 is somewhere around the 820 dollar mark. So if you think you can get Stage 2 from other sources that much cheaper, by all means go for it. However, you may have warranty issues later on.

How can you call it a Rip off when List is Over 1200 bucks? I dont know how cheap people are around here. But you gotta pay if you want to play. I think a few hundred bucks off list is not bad. The gas guys will spend going across the border to get it etc... Think about it.

takes me 45 mins to get to the border ...gas money isint going to make up for the hundreds of dollars difference ...yes you have to pay to play ..but that dosn't mean you have to pay the most to play ..

This thread is for people who want the Stage 2 kit and are willing to pay for it. I don't believe opinions were asked for. If you don't want it, don't post. There is no need to turn this into a Canada vs USA thread. It doesn't matter and it have been argued 300 times already.

This guy is trying to do the best for people and help them save a few bucks. That is what members are supposed to do.

I appreciate the comments and support. If your going to buy it from GM thats about as good a price as your going to get. List is around 1260 bucks canadian. I might even be able to do slightly cheaper then $1075 depending on how many people are interested. Get it installed at GM, all warranty is intact, and you are out of there clean with no problems. Myself, I dont want to drive all over the world to get the parts, drive back home, get them installed or buy a piece here and a piece there etc.. Just get it all done at once.

I think that if I get the kits.. It's going to be from a GM dealership, rather then just site online or person.. Atleast if you show GM a bill for warrenty work on the parts, they will do whatever warrenty works needs to be done (you don't need to go to the same dealer who sold or installed, warrenty is wordwide. So if your car breaks in the US and its warrenty.. You can go to a US dealer.. sorry for that ramble).. If you buy from someone online without a GM receipt you will probably get hassled and possibly turned down warrenty work..

Just my thought.. I'd rather spend $300 more and have the satifaction that it's fpr sure under warrenty no problems

if you buy it in the US your warrenty either way is covered across all cross North Amercia even with road side assistence your cover anywere in north amercia.

plus its not any site man

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/store/Cobalt-Performance-Parts-C144.aspx

but you right for sure you would have to find out b4 you buy it if your warrenty is covered no matter were you are or if you buy it from CED or at a dealer

Ya I know that. That is what I am pointing out.. If you get it from any GM dealer, your covered anywhere in thw WORLD (not like u would be anywhere else with ur car tho)...

But again, like I said. You would need to check to make sure the warrenty is still good or not. Cause if not then your screwing yourself right...

1075 sounds reasonable. My dealership also quoted me over 1200 plus installation. I'd be up for a kit but not anytime soon...funds are loowww.... Would your friends honour their price say until august or sept?

The best I can do is probably get a cheaper rate on labour. Most dealers across the GTA are charging close to 100 dollars an hour. (I know its ridiculous) but I am hoping for 80 bucks an hour labour. Since none of the dealers have done an installation yet, noone really knows how long its going to take.

And yes, the 1075 is without installation. All this would be done at Gateway Chev in Brampton just up the road from me. I am in constant contact with them about the stage kits. As soon as they can be ordered, I will tell everyone!

BrockLanders
03-24-2006, 02:56 PM
Thanks for the PM :twothumbs

I am nowhere near Brampton, so I will bite the bullet on install....but how bad could it be?
Injectors....20mins tops
Pully..........20mins
Bracket......10mins
Reflash.......20 secs :)

Lets say 2 hours to pad the techs paycheck.....you save roughly $200 with this deal. I'd say you're looking at $1400 all in. I think that reasonable.

Jbody Performance is having a sale on them right now for $1025.. I am sure its pre-orders.. If they are pre-orders.. Then I am gonna order mine through them so I can reserve one for when they come..

The only problem I have is.. My dealership in Whitby (Nurse) says that the kit isn't under warrenty.. But then again this is coming from a parts guy they probably doesn't no much more then we do.. But still, if this kit isn't under warrenty with GM if something happens to the motor.. I am out.. Cause I am not going to risk loosing my engine warrenty cause of 36hp upgrade.. I will just wait til my warrenty runs out in 4 yrs..

The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The part that is the main concern is the reflash, no the hardware. GM is using a 3" pulley so that the boost level remains within their 17% alotted increase before engine damage occurs. The injectors are made my Delco and the pulley is a press on. Anyone with smaller than a 3" pulley without tuning is risking serious damage to their engine by running too lean. The Performance Upgrade by GM will not void your warranty if installed correctly - trust me.

I spoke to my dealership parts dept. and they said the kit would not void the warranty as long as it is purchased from gm and installed by them
