Billig ss/sc 12-25-2008, 10:32 AM Just like the title says, my mom said she'd buy me my new set of tires for christmas, so now I have to go pick out the set I want. I was hopin you guys could help me out with the best ones out there. I want something that has awesome dry-performance but is also good in the rain (and maybe even snow, not that my car ever really sees it). And something that has a good ride. Let me know what you guys think is best and what you have. Thanks guys!!!

These? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport&partnum=245WR8GFSPXL&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=1&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=(Y)&minSpeedRating=V
discofreak 12-25-2008, 10:46 AM I have been more than pleased with my BFG KDW2's - they bite pretty hard and, despite the noise through corners, they hold their grip. Though, I've had them on for three or four months and only put thirty miles on them - and I don't drive in the rain or the cold...YMMV.
Bridgestone Potenza RE01's are another good choice - but is less all-season than the KDW2's.
MSHETZ 12-25-2008, 10:50 AM no ill find the link for you
i got them when they were on sale for 114 but there now back to regular price but worth it , i got 235/40/18...

uh, wrongish. the KDW 2s are dedicated summer tires with specific warnings not to use in snow or extreme cold.
neither the re01s or kdws are going to be good in the snow. if you're looking for a tire for snow/ice/slop, you want many small sipes cut in the tire. the large blocks on the summer tires add stability for less greasy dry handling, but suck in the white stuff.
I got stuck in 1.5 inches of snow with my kumho ecsta spts last winter. if you can only get one set, i'd definitely compromise towards an all season tire.

poppagun 12-25-2008, 11:06 AM i loved my nittos triple 5s

MSHETZ 12-25-2008, 11:27 AM i hear ya i hate the cold
wallas06SS 12-25-2008, 11:33 AM Nitto neogens are badass!
SS/SCking 12-25-2008, 11:41 AM BFG KDW2's
_UnLiMiTeD_ 12-25-2008, 11:48 AM if u want one that can also be used in light snow just incase then th bfg g-force super sports are a great tire
recklessactn 12-25-2008, 11:53 AM I have to second the BFG G-Force A/S tires, they are the best bang for the buck and provide pretty good performance as well for those snowy occasions in jerz, i'm going to buy these next month :guns:
Billig ss/sc 12-25-2008, 12:04 PM Looks like that might be the way I'm gonna go then. Thanks guys!!!
Asstyme 12-25-2008, 12:59 PM 225/45/18 Goodyear Eagle GT/AS = best bang for the $$$ They also have a nice aggressive thread pattern and an excellent rim protector.

LamboW9 12-25-2008, 01:07 PM dont get nitto neogens, my buddy has them and he burnt thru them really quick plus the traction was not nearly as good as my KDW2s, and the KDW2s are not winter tires, its hell to drive with them in the snow, but dont get neogens, i'd definitely go towards an all season tire, but if you are hooked on Nitto tires then i hear alot of great things about the NT555's
stealthy1ss 12-25-2008, 01:39 PM Get a tire with a treadwear rating of 200 or less!
Asstyme 12-25-2008, 01:41 PM Get a tire with a treadwear rating of 200 or less!
Why ????
stealthy1ss 12-25-2008, 01:43 PM Stickier tire.
Asstyme 12-25-2008, 01:46 PM Stickier tire.
Maybe good for a summer only tire but the OP was looking for an all season tire.

He also mentions that the car doesn't even really see the snow so thats why I said what I said. According to his mods I believe that he would be much happier with a sticker tire.

It also depends on how much coin he is willing to spend and how many miles he would like them to last.
07MetallicSC 12-25-2008, 02:03 PM I have bridgestone Potenza pole positions s-03 and they are by far the best tires ive personally delt with. I cannot get them to even squeal, they just always grip corners. AWESOME tire.

You can't get them to squeal or you can't get them to turn over (spin) ? If you can't get them to turn maybe you have clutch or engine problems ???
rocketpunch1221 12-25-2008, 03:13 PM Nothing saids love like a fresh set of rubber. Enjoy!

I missed the "corners" part, LOL :)

07MetallicSC 12-25-2008, 05:04 PM i dont know anything personally about nittos as ive never owned a pair, but from much of what ive read all their tires are all around pretty good!
dman090 12-25-2008, 05:08 PM alot of ppl have the KDW2's and are real pleased...but i wouldnt know, i still running on stock 16's lol

warrenb213 12-26-2008, 04:52 PM Please get BF Goodrich KDW2's or as they are also called KDW NT's.
That's the best bang for your buck. Why ya think SRT-4's came with em stock? :-P
Billig ss/sc 12-26-2008, 07:28 PM I want to stay away from the KDW2's because everyone's saying they're not good in cold weather and that's what NJ is for 4 months of the year. As of right now I'm probably going to go with the BFGoodrich g-force Super Sport a/s

If ur lookin for a all around good tire the potenzas are nice. or like i said before the nt 555s are great.
warrenb213 12-27-2008, 08:59 PM lol dude i can vouche for the kdw's. i have them on mine year round, and yes, around the 30's they start to grip a lil less but ya gotta realize what kinda grip u started out with.
good luck pickin tires dude
blk ss/sc 1 12-27-2008, 09:12 PM i love how quiet and smooth my nitto invos are .. i think u should consider them
Billig ss/sc 12-27-2008, 11:51 PM I'll check 'em out. I think I'm gonna go with the BFGoodrich's though
blk ss/sc 1 12-28-2008, 12:40 AM yea thats oprolly goin to be my next tire
steddy2112 12-28-2008, 12:45 AM Just realize that a good handling tire(stiff sidewall) taht BFGoodrich tends to make is not a good drag tire and a softer sidewall tire will be more for drag racing.
Depending on what you like to do with your time.
car_guy_09 12-28-2008, 01:01 AM I'm probably going to go with the BFGoodrich g-force Super Sport a/s
I have the gforce sport (summer version) And love them. My next set will be the a/s's

Actually, the tires the OP has mentioned is more like a KDW-III
It almost has the same tread design with more little slits in the tread for snow grip
As well as a much MUCH softer compound.

Im not sure i fully understand what your saying....
Tires hes looking at, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Super+Sport+A%2FS&partnum=24WR8GFASXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=0
My tires, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport&partnum=24ZR8GFSP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=1
My tires have the softer compound and grip slightly better.
steddy2112 12-28-2008, 01:11 AM Snow tires, and all season tires are the softest on the market.
Summer tires are harder, and grip better as they heat up(to a certain point)
All season/snow tires have higher grip at lower temps are over heated easier.
And look at a KDW-II next to the ones he is talking about...they look the same with more slits in the tread blocks.
I am not saying your tire performs less than those.
I am saying the all seasons look more in common with the KDW-II

Oh im not saying they dont look like the KDW's, they do, Allot... But have a harder compound, very little but still a difference.
According to tirerack treadwear rating is 400 vs 340.... Plus the summer got 9.2 vs 9.1 dry traction or something like that (to lazy to pull it up again), So like i said very small difference, Which is why i will buy a/s's when these are done
steddy2112 12-28-2008, 01:23 AM Those tires you have now are to be discontinued soon, and with the latest test of the KDW-IIs bombing so bad...there should be a new UHP summer tire coming from them soon.
I'll take the same exact thing just quieter plz
 Bridgestones are looking mighty appealing
car_guy_09 12-28-2008, 01:27 AM Im either going with the a/s's, OR Buy some hhr wheels with bizzarks and some KDW's for the summer. Unless of course somthing better comes out...
But these are almost brand new so i got awhile as long as i can keep the rubber on the tire and not on the road
steddy2112 12-28-2008, 01:29 AM Are the sidewalls stiff on those too or are they a drag racey tire?
car_guy_09 12-28-2008, 01:31 AM Sidewalls are pretty damn stiff, But i dont have allot to compare them to
_UnLiMiTeD_ 12-28-2008, 07:19 PM the super sport a/s has awesome dry and wet performance, is a smooth, quiet ride and is a newer tire on the market so its not getting discontinued.
Tank07 12-28-2008, 07:23 PM toyo proxes 4
all around perfect tire IMO and go with nitrogen inflation
07MetallicSC 12-29-2008, 12:07 AM potenza pole positions like i got. love em.
