how much you guys have on your front windows...im thinking of tinting the front 2 to 20-25% after this stupid ass snow melts away and i can actually get my car to the main road from the sidestreets even though im like 2 blocks away i won't make it who's getting pulled over and stuff for it

anything on the front windows is illegal. i wouldnt do it, depending on what kind of mood the cop is in he can give you anything from a notice in order (remove it and show up to the police station in 10 days to show its been done) to a ticket or even a complete motor vehicle inspection, wich is a pain in the ass.

Just do it...If you dont car about getting pulled over..If they ticket you its just over 100 bucks..If they give you a notice to remove just peel it and go to the cop shop to show them its off..You will get pulled over if you have tint on..I ihave gone through both things of removal and fines...I just keep getting it redone,Due to the fact it is my car and I injoy it..

If they slap you with an inspection you have to get it done every time you renew your insurance.
It's $200 for the inspection.
They hit with one (Port Moody cops) on my civic, said it was to low, it wasn't, but I still had to get that damn inspection done evey time I wanted insurance.
Its a pain in the ass

shouldnt hve had to have it inspected every year. my dad is a service manager at a shop and he does vehicle inspections, when you get an MVI you only have to go to get it inspected within 30 days, take the paperwork to the police station and your good to go.

I would say don't do it
This is coming from my high school friend who is now a full time RCMP officer.
Biggest thing that cops hate about illegal tint is that they don't know if you hiding a gun in your lap as they walk up to your window. They will be very hostile with you when they pull you over, especially if it's at night time in a remote area

Great point..they dont know if they have a gun on your lap...,,,I mean come on what a load..I had a cop tell me that crap once..What about the guy in the back seat that has a gun..Or will his gun not shoot through the glass in the back...If he is that scared of being shot he should find a new job...Now the real resone you are not suppost to have tint on the front 2 windows are.when glass breaks it is suppost to be small pices of glass so you do not get cut up as bad..When you put tint over it now you have a big plastic sheet over it so the glass if broken will now be stuck together insted of falling out..So it is more saftey for you then the police..If you do it be prepared to have issues..But thanks to the police almost any mod you do to a car can net you getting pulled over...

Which is why I have my windows rolled down when I'm pulled over... that does NOT make the difference at all though.... cuz I'll tell you why... they tell you to roll it up so they can see if your tinted or not.

The other thing is... this isn't the US.... not many people at all have guns nor do we typically come across that problem in Canada!!!

im thinking it shouldnt cost you more than 120 to get it done but
personally i think its not worth it because all my friends with front tint are getting into trouble for it..

its especially noticeable on our cars because those windows are huge!

actually according to the rcmp, if you have front side window tint, the officer has to be able to see into your car at night from across the street..call them and they will tell u the same.

thats what the cops say, but thats not whats in the motor vehicle act. it states that any tint on the front windows that is not factory is illegal. some officers may be more lenient than others.

in the end its just not worth it. costs you $120 to get done, if you get a ticket its $109, if they send you for a vehicle inspection its between $80 and $120 to get done plus the pain in the ass. i dont know abut you guys, but i could sure spend $200+ on something else, like a rear swaybar, a STS, ect.

the actual law i was told the other day is that the tint cannot be around the drivers front view. couple people in our town have half tint on the ir windows... i think it looks ridiculous but they get away with it... so it angles from the rear top corner of the window to 3/4 forward the window to the bottom... like a triangle...

The motor vehicle act is the only law regarding window tint or your motor vehicle for that matter. The police only enforce the laws they don't write them. A lawyer would be the correct person to ask and have it looked into.

actually i believe what he was saying was that is the RCMP's general rule of thumb.. They will pull you over and ticket you if they cant see you from across the st, thats not what they write on the ticket. thats just their way of determining who to ticket and check the tint on

Well the lower the # the darker the tint is. 5% means that only 5% of the uv rays pass through.

you mean under 15%?

I have 5% on my rear 3 and its dark as hell..

ONE THING TO REMEMBER IF YOU DO TINT YOUR FRONT TWO... when you tint your rear three, not as much light passes thru making your front tint APPEAR darker than it is... so if you do all 35% it'll appear dark... if you do all 15% it'll appear really dark.. if you do 5% all across.. you won't be able to see in AT ALL.

So if you do do the rear 3 at 5%.. do the front 2 at 35% at MOST I'd say if you don't want to get pulled over

otherwise, go 20% all around.

you do know it works the other way right? the lower the % the darker the window, I have 5% on my back and small sides, and 35% on my driver and passenger and it looks good and have had no problems with the cops at all, and I live 3 blocks from the cop shop in Abby.

Lucky you... In Mission they get bored and have surprise spot checks where they always check for tint... you'll go up a hill and right over the blind spot BOOM there they are. Has happened a couple times but fortunately my front windows aint tinted. I have found alternative routes where I know don't get checked now anyhow... I may consider doing that in the future.
