4 lug to 5 lug

im not really interested in doing the ss/na or ss/sc brake swap

but the cavaliers and the cobalt lt have the 5 lug pattern

what i want to do is swap spindles, rotors and drums would that be possible from say a 5 lug cavalier or would i run into other problems

Well the question is of course, why? I assume you want to use some specific kind of wheel? And while I can't be sure, I don't think the J-body 5 lug was the same size as the Delta 5-lug. Deltas have 5*110.

I have an LT and it has 4??? You must be refering to a newer one as all the older LTs had 4.

No, no, no, no, no, no.

All J-bodies = 5x100
Cobalt SS/LT2 or whatever other LT has it/Pontiac G5 GT = 5x110
Other Cobalts = 4x100

There is no advantage of having 5 lugs whatsoever. I refuse to give any information regarding swapping because I'd hate to see you waste your money on this.

that is where you are wrong sir...lugs = hp/tq..almost 100 to the wheels each extra un-needed lugnut..thats like 400 whp right there..just for 4 wheels

without massive reengineering or fab work you cant put Jbody bits on a Cobalt.

To go 5 lug (5x110) all you need is hubs, rotors, drums and caliper brackets. Theres a much smaller selection of wheels in 5x110, so unless you were doing it for the big brake options, theres no point.

I am gona disagree with ya there, I have a 06 LT with the sport package and it has 4 lugs. This was the top model LT (LT3) at the time I bought it. I believe that they went to 5 for the LTs in 2007 or 08. Before then, all the LTs were only 4.

At the time of purchase, it was considered a 2006 LT3.

Let's answer the OP's question with a simple answer...

No. You can't. And you wouldn't want to even if you could.

There, how did I do?

Thats a stright answer.

You might want to listen to 1/2 cent as he usually knows what he's talking about.

Um....what do you mean nothing you can do?

You need 4 hubs, 2 rotors, 2 caliper bracket, and 2 drums.

I can do it in like 2 or 3hours max.

i know i can do it easy, but the fact is if the cavy is 5x100 and the ssna is 5x110 its kinda pointless

Forget about Cavy. You use Cobalt hubs, rotors, drums and brackets.

There is no shipping available on the axle.

Which is why I said "or whatever other LT has it". Durrr.

In any case... to the OP, what we generally recommend in this situation is to stick with 4x100 and take advantage of the much greater selection of aftermarket wheels. Don't bother with heavy ass SS wheels. Had you searched, you would have found this information with ease, so kiss my ass plz.

How do you justify that its more secure?

So youre claiming that if 3 bolts does the job 4 does it better, and if 4 does it good that 5 does it even better?

All 25 and 06 LS and LT model Cobalt's had the 4 lug pattern.

Starting in 2007, the LS and 1LT Cobalt's had the 4 lug, and the 2LT, Sport, and SS models had 5.
