Angry GTI better than SS/TC and CSRT4?.......

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html

these guys are idiots. Yet another bad review for the CSRT4. Forget the fact that it ran one of the best 1/4mi times and best trap. O, and the SS/TC isnt as good as a ******* flanel interiored, slow shitbucket GTI?

WOW. Heres how the list should look:

1) SS/TC
2) CSRT4
3) MS3
4) WRX
5) Ralliart
6) GTI
7) Mini
8) Si

Well they didn't just test the 1/4 mile runs of the cars they tested everything. And it says the ONLY reason the VW bested the Cobalt was its Audi like interior quality VS the Cobalts rental car looking interior. So as long as you don't mine the interior the Balt is the best car. If however your looking for the best all around then its interior makes it 2nd place to the VW.

Further proof that the world doesn't just look to a cars 1/4 mile performance as what makes it a "BETTER" car. Now if CSS only could figure that out too.

They didn't completely dog on the cobalt, just didn't like the interior as compared to the competition. I have to agree that it is lacking a little luster, but who cares if you get it for the performance?

I posted this in the other threat about the MT test results, and it applies here too:

Let's be honest here folks, judged as an overall package the SS/TC (or any Cobalt, for that matter) is not a class leading car.

I bought mine because it's amazing to drive, I like the looks, and it's fairly priced... But even so, I tolerate the interior. These guys aren't bullshitting when they say the GTI has a better interior, I test drove one and it's practically a damn Audi.

Someone who wants a sport compact for all-around use and isn't obsessed with all-out performance should look closely at the GTI, Speed 3, etc... In the case of this test, they judged the GTI to have a great interior and as being sufficiently sporty to satisfy the majority of people. Totally fair game if you ask me.

Besides, since when do quarter mile times determine overall excellence?

why even bother buying a tuner if u dont care about performance? These cars are designed to appeal to the tuner nitch. Go on their websites, look at how theyre advertised.

Theyre not advertised as "nice interior" vehicles. Theyre advertised as a performance car.

MT and Car and driver need to save the interior crap for base model cars. Performance wise, the SS/TC and the CSRT4 are on top.

look at the tire spinning pic. U see any base model camrys advertised like that?:

http://www.vw.com/gti/gallery/en/us/#/exterior/5/

and this is the goofy ass interior they think is so much better:

http://www.vw.com/gti/gallery/en/us/#/interior/0/

looks like they raided a scottish kilt bands underwear drawer and sewed it onto their seats....

I posted on the other thread as well, but my thoughts are: ya it makes sense that MT would rate the GTI number one knowing their criteria. It makes sense that R&T rated SS number 1 knowing their criteria.

Where this is true a cars WHOLE needs to be looked at to determin which is the "BETTER" car. Interior quality and fit and finish as well as the cars performance all go into an UNBIASED look at a car. A cars WHOLE needs to be looked at, too bad Chevy doesn't realize that.......yet.

How about other stuff then? Since when did the interior have such a weigth to it?

How about the power train of each, the capabilities and max specifications/tolerances? How about any prior year issues? How about current aftermarket?

They fail to cover these, yet these are all VERY important for tuners. If I went out a bought a shitty ass GTI, and realized after the fact that the crap bucket couldnt even pull 300 whp out of its ass from mods with stock components, and other sport tuners could, Id be pissed.

Id love to see that POS GTI handle 400 whp and 500 ft tq without doing serious work.

since when did it matter what a magazine said about a car? you buy a car for what YOU like. If you buy a car based soley on what they say, youd be an idiot.

**** Motortrend, they also named along with Automobile mag that the GT-R is the car of the year. That car is not car of the year, that thing is Fugly as hell. Its not the cheapest supercar car cause its not a supercar. It can't hit 200mph, supercar gets its title by accomplishing that and just being exotic. Ladies the GT-R is far from exotic. The car was designed to beat the 911, that alone says a lot. The Carrera GT is what they needed to design the car against and then we would be talking about the GT-R being a supercar. ******* insane

It pisses me off that they always rate the CSRT4 on the bottom every chance they get, yet its one of the best cars on their list.

People shy away from them because of what those idiots advertise. Honestly, its the best damn tuner of the bunch if ur looking for drag times.

I think Motor Trend saying that the GTI is better is pretty legit. The CSRT4 and SS/TC are fantastic cars, but there's downpoints, like the interiors. I mean look at this pic of the GTI interior - that screams ****** sick, minus the plaid seating, which you can get or not on the options, in favor of leather I do believe. The interior isn't the only thing, but VW and Audi are serious auto makers, why do you think you constantly hear their names mentioned? Quality cars.

still to me...the interior isn't all that good!
I'm not a big fan of the GTi at all. They look sick outside when u drop it and put some nice rims on it. Other than that, all the companies can do better!

The ONLY things I wish the Cobalt had, that the GTi has,

1.) HID's
2.) Those kick ass gauges.

But even still, I can replace the headlights, and somewhat "replace" the gauges.

So I'm very happy with my SS/TC.
