looking for a good STL area dealership

i'm taking the car to trennary in o'fallon, MO today to ask some questions and check them out. i've heard good things about them. but, i'm interested in everyone's recommendations as well.

so, post up if there is a dealership or a specific tech or service manager you have dealt with and like. also, post any bad experiences, too. TIA.

maybe we can get a list of reputable and disreputable local dealerships and shops going.

Bought my car in Nashville, IL. I get it serviced in Red Bud, IL and then had them do the stage 2 upgrade, they are able to GMPP. Service is excellent for a dealership.

Well cause i looked at that exact car When i was lookin for SS/SC's and to me, there was just to many things wrong with it, I was gonna buy it and the guy would just kinda rude about how the whole thing was going, Askin 17k i think or something like that with miss matching tires, the side skirts in the front where off and i think there was some scratchs on the headlights or something and what not, I told him i wouldnt pay anymore then High 14's or low 15's for the car and he laughed at me so left lol

Ya when i looked at it like i said they where askin 17k, I told them the only way i WOULD pay for that is if they fixed the headlight/bumper/side skirts, and they laughed and was like "Sorry buddy its as is car"...Just one more reason why i walked, It was funny cause the guy who tired sellin me that car was like "hey justin you still intrested in this Cobalt you looked at" I responded "Actually no i found one that in my price range and the customer service was great, as well i was able to find one that yes it needs a few things but they where willing to work with me" His repsonse "well i am glad you where able to find one but was there anything different i could do?" and at this point i laughed and just hung up on him

Over all thow how does the car run?

haha it runs real good and i dont have any problems with the car besides what you mentioned, i have someone who is going to fix the sideskirts for me so thats at lest covered...i just had problems with the people there and he is wrong its gm certified so they were supposed to inspect and fix those things before they sold it to..i didnt find about it until i called gm and they said that the TIRES for sure should have been a matching brand, so now im just waiting on the phone call to go there and get them switched out. All in all i got a good deal on the car but i didnt have to talk them down that was there listing price so i figured with the little things that were wrong that it wasnt too bad...do you by chance remember your salesman?

i don't do warranty work or pay for parts i don't have to. but, i'm with ya. it's hard to trust anyone else to do it right.

Trenary in O'Fallon got me a helluva deal on my LT. Good folks out there. If you go there, go to Eric Cargill and tell him Brandon, the kid with the 08 silver LT coupe sent ya.. I havn't been down there in a while... I need to soon to see how much I'll be payin for a GM lip kit.
sorry brandon, didn't see this in time. but, i don't think it would have helped much.

trennary was a bust. the service writer i dealt with was a *****. he did his best to smile, be polite and hide it, but was unsuccessful.

oil change:
didn't reset the monitor, spilled oil.
FAIL

tranny clunk:
"it's a performance transmission". maybe it's normal and not harmful, but when i asked what was different about the cobalt tranny compared to the other cars that use it and don't clunk, i got a blank stare. i then asked him why the SS i test drove there didn't do it. another stare, but this time simmering hatred behind the eyes. so, i moved on...
FAIL

groovey brakes:
"it's normal". o rly? i asked why the rear rotors, which maybe handle 30% of stopping, would be noticably grooved at 1400 miles when the front rotors feel perfectly smooth. again with the staring! i then mentioned that people all over the country were experiencing the same problem on 08 cars. for this, he had a response: "well, you can't go by what you read on an "internet forum" from a bunch of people who think they know what's wrong." he basically called all you good people idiots. awesome. i asked if the inboard side of the rotors were grooved worse and he said that the tech didn't look. he just looked at the outside through the wheel. he then infered that the rotors were a cosmetic problem and stated that i would have to take it up with the selling dealer, knowing fully that the dealer was in cleveland. he was smiling again. at this point hellen keller could see the futility in going any further so i paid my $20 and left.
FAIL

cute girl in the lounge:
small talk, smiles, laughed at my jokes... no phone number.
FAIL

i was not pleased.

thanks for all the responses guys.
