ssyellowss 02-07-2009, 01:04 PM oh it will here soon too. cant have warm weather without rain it seems like. its just odd that its early february and its 50 here, on its way up to 60 over the next couple days. especially when it was sub zero a few weeks ago.
Noir_Destruction 02-08-2009, 01:05 AM lmao thats how colorado weather is all year round... even we have been seeing 50's and 60's here...
RooTBeeR 02-08-2009, 01:09 AM ok, well i didnt hit up the post office b4 they closed, so...im getting my mom to send it for me on monday! lmao troo story
Noir_Destruction 02-08-2009, 10:31 AM your on my shit list now buddy!!.... your decision has affected us all
ssweeet 02-08-2009, 11:47 AM your on my shit list now buddy!!.... your decision has affected us all
Not necessarily. I sent out my payment last Wednesday. Should be only a matter of time...
Bumpin Balt 02-08-2009, 12:02 PM You guys need to do a before and after dyno. You are going to be disappointed when you LOSE 10-15HP over the stock header.
Rydis 02-08-2009, 12:10 PM why is that?
RooTBeeR 02-08-2009, 12:37 PM You guys need to do a before and after dyno. You are going to be disappointed when you LOSE 10-15HP over the stock header.
this header should give us more bottom end(which in turn might take a little bit away from the top end or peak numbers compared to stock but i doubt it) where as the stock MANIFOLD doesn't flow as well and being that its so short will have more top end...however, iv never seen before/after dynos to prove this, jsut my guess
I'm getting it because i want a little more bottom end power...and it sounds fk'n sick haha
Bumpin Balt 02-08-2009, 12:44 PM If you are buying it for the sound, that's cool. I personally think it sounds raspy. Usually when a product gains HP, the manufacturer is more than happy to post Dyno graphs. A friend of mine bought one and did a before and after dyno. He lost about 10HP.
ajjaro 02-08-2009, 02:34 PM any thoughts on this JBP? how about a dyno graph?
ls1fbody 02-08-2009, 02:37 PM If you are buying it for the sound, that's cool. I personally think it sounds raspy. Usually when a product gains HP, the manufacturer is more than happy to post Dyno graphs. A friend of mine bought one and did a before and after dyno. He lost about 10HP.
Ok, that may be true, but it may be misinformaton, which you don't need to be spreading. My guess is that he got this, and the car wasn't pushing the kind of power to require a 3" exhaust system, and that sir, is why he lost power. Velocity dropped, and not enough air was moving. I can see this being the issue on cars that are not modded enough to warrant a 3" system, but until you get the facts from your "buddy" don't spread slander.
Bumpin Balt 02-08-2009, 04:12 PM I consider dyno graphs to be factual. He changed out the header ONLY. He was running a 2.5" exhaust. Ask JBP for dyno graphs and see what you get. I went from a GMPP 2.25" exhaust to a Hahn 3" on a stock LSJ tune and I noticed a decent increase in performance, so I'm not sure where you are coming from there. I am still using the stock header and DP for now though.
I never heard of someone losing 10HP with the header or any HP whatsoever. The powerband is shifted down-low with our header. I'll get dyno's of Player_1's car and post them, and everyone can check the torque curve and see how they like it. Right now we've moved the shop, I'll have to dig through boxes to find them and scan them. He's pushing around 260hp.
Noir_Destruction 02-08-2009, 07:32 PM i'm not trying to start a fight but isn't it funny how is it always "my friend" ... never mentions a name or provides any proof of his own... bumpin, and for all you know he switched out the manifold to the header and didn't get it bolted down right and was having a horrible exhaust leak right at the head... if all your looking at is dyno sheets... there are alot of factors to be played into something like that...
brandondrecksage 02-08-2009, 11:11 PM I consider dyno graphs to be factual. He changed out the header ONLY. He was running a 2.5" exhaust. Ask JBP for dyno graphs and see what you get. have any proof? i doubt it, jsut curious. was it on the same dyno, same day same conditions? Was the dyno numbers repeatable? were his iats okay? i'm sure you just blow me off though cause you seem like a troll.

no paypal
ajjaro 02-09-2009, 11:42 PM i would like to see some dyno graphs of the 31.2 whp gain, does anyone have them?? i wonder what the whp gain would be with the injen intake magnaflow 2.5 racing exhaust and cti downpipe(including the vortex header obviously)
RooTBeeR 02-10-2009, 12:06 AM oh thanks, i am also planning on getting one of there stage 3 heads. hopefully by this summer
so are they accepting paypal???
international money order, or a certified check only
So... what makes this such an extra pain in the ass to install? What all do you have to remove to get it hooked up?
Again, if your name is Max Brown please email us!!! info@jbodyperformance.com
NexTnmE 02-10-2009, 11:35 AM So... what makes this such an extra pain in the ass to install? What all do you have to remove to get it hooked up?
It is the size of the header - it is a longtube design that fits in the stock manifold space. So it's very tight.
You have to take the stock manifold and downpipe off. Bolt the downpipe on the new header, then bolt everything back up.
bowtie32 02-10-2009, 12:06 PM JBP what do I got to do to get one!!!
Rippin07 02-10-2009, 01:26 PM You have to read the post that says email them with your location for a exact price with shipping, then send and international money order.
bowtie32 02-10-2009, 01:48 PM Sorry about that. Thanks.
andrew97 02-10-2009, 03:05 PM It is the size of the header - it is a longtube design that fits in the stock manifold space. So it's very tight.
You have to take the stock manifold and downpipe off. Bolt the downpipe on the new header, then bolt everything back up.
is there anything else that has to be removed to install? like anything in the way of pulling the stock header down.
ssyellowss 02-10-2009, 04:06 PM just the downpipe. once its removed you can remove the header and put on the vortex and bolt up the dp
It sounds/looks cool and all, but there's no way in hell I'll just mail a business a check and wait.
CTI for me. :D
tdipowered 02-10-2009, 11:02 PM Im Max Brown and i just emailed....hope nothin is messed up
Steven Flit 02-10-2009, 11:06 PM Be prepared to cut away at some material behind the header. Nothing major, but must be done.
The metal AC line must also be shifted roughly a half inch upwards to avoid contact w/ the header. Again, nothing major, but must be done.

are you telling me that? are the headers messed up?
NexTnmE 02-11-2009, 12:10 AM ^Pics! Vids! Now!!!
bowtie32 02-11-2009, 12:18 AM So the best way to put it on is with the header bolted to the downpipe first, and then bolt the header on. This may hve been answered but does it include new gaskets. Thanks guys.
Noir_Destruction 02-11-2009, 01:22 AM So the best way to put it on is with the header bolted to the downpipe first, and then bolt the header on. This may hve been answered but does it include new gaskets. Thanks guys.
yes it comes with gaskets and bolts

care to elberate... what material behind the header?
NexTnmE 02-11-2009, 01:28 AM It makes it easier if you remove some of the firewall insulation. The package comes with header wrap so there wont be any heat issues if you do remove some of the black cloth/heat insulation...
Noir_Destruction 02-11-2009, 01:52 AM is it all wrapped or just the #2 primary? ... damn that is a tight fit if thats the case... is it worth it to pull the CV axle to gain more room?
ajjaro 02-11-2009, 01:55 AM i was originally gonna buy the 3 inch cti dp with my vortex header, adn 2.5 exhaust, but i heard from a tuner that i would get more power from a 2.5 inch dp with this set up, and this guy is running with a 2.6 pulley and 60 injectors also
RooTBeeR 02-11-2009, 01:56 AM ok, well i got my money order!
so now it should be in the mail tomorrow!
NexTnmE 02-11-2009, 01:58 AM is it all wrapped or just the #2 primary? ... damn that is a tight fit if thats the case... is it worth it to pull the CV axle to gain more room?
From what I have heard from JBP they only provide enough heat-wrap for the number two primary, which is the only one that is close to the firewall.
For install you might want to remove the half-shaft to make it easier...if you you are doing it on your own...

Steven Flit 02-11-2009, 04:08 AM sad... I never recieved header wrap with mine... :(
oh wells!
good header guys
tdipowered 02-11-2009, 04:17 AM yea im kinda wonderin what up with mine
1) Guys, there is no header wrap included with the header as it is not needed.
2) There is no need to grind or cut anything anywhere.
3) There shouldn't be any need to remove the firewall insulation, it will fit right infront of it just fine.
bowtie32 02-11-2009, 10:01 AM Jbp I sent u a pm on using my ups account.

you must have a magical cobalt then
ls1fbody 02-11-2009, 11:20 AM Actually steve, i think they re-designed the header after some of the initial batches were having issues like yours.
ssyellowss 02-11-2009, 12:42 PM so whats the word? has the first batch shipped? i sent an email with no response yet. JBP's website does state that the header comes with wrap for the number 2 primary.

Wolf117 02-12-2009, 06:43 PM how come for me, canadapost doesnt work? lol it did the first day and now it wont load
ssweeet 02-12-2009, 07:05 PM Guys, all your tracking numbers should be updated tonight. Keep an eye out for the updates.
How late are we speaking? As of 7 PM EST, it still stands where it's been for the past three days when I received my tracking number. It's not your fault, it's just pointless to have a tracking number when you can't even view where your product is located.
tdipowered 02-12-2009, 08:24 PM how come for me, canadapost doesnt work? lol it did the first day and now it wont load
cuz yall lost the super bowl

ssweeet 02-13-2009, 12:46 AM It's 12:45 AM EST and still no updates as far as tracking goes.
Noir_Destruction 02-13-2009, 01:31 AM i just checked at 11:30pm mountain time and there was an update... in three days it moved a total of 17 minutes closer to me... this could take a while...
ls1fbody 02-13-2009, 03:01 AM i wouldn't worry so much guys, over the border stuff takes forever. Mine showed up before it even said it left the initial drop off point.
ajjaro 02-13-2009, 04:24 AM mine isnt over the border, but it is takign a while for a short trip
Noir_Destruction 02-13-2009, 12:02 PM just checked and got another update, mine says that it left canada... SWEET!!!
andrew97 02-13-2009, 01:59 PM what shipping service is used once in the us?
ssweeet 02-13-2009, 02:30 PM Are you kidding me? It took four days for the header to leave Canada? Who's hands does it fall in when it's over the border?
andrew97 02-13-2009, 02:50 PM i emailed JBP and they said it goes to USPS after canada.
Noir_Destruction 02-13-2009, 04:27 PM does it continue to have the same tracking number?

Noir_Destruction 02-13-2009, 05:40 PM alright just e-mail jbp and they said the number stays the same and to use the same site. also yes usps is the one that takes it over

I sent mine out last Wednesday, mine should be well on its way! :D

yup, its a longtube, so you should feel the power band shift more to the lowend.
ajjaro 02-17-2009, 12:18 AM i need a 2.5 downpipe to go with it, i cant find one for under 300$ the cti one is a great price, but its too big, help!
revolution607@yahoo. 02-17-2009, 12:29 AM i need a 2.5 downpipe to go with it, i cant find one for under 300$ the cti one is a great price, but its too big, help!
zzp one is pretty cheap
RooTBeeR 02-17-2009, 12:36 AM why do you only want 2.5? most of the dp's are 3" but downsize to 2.5 and the end iirc
ajjaro 02-17-2009, 12:49 AM i have been told by local tuners, one who has 280+whp running a 2.6 that he got more whp after he switched his dp form a 3 to a 2.5 for increased velocity. i heard some bad things about the zzp downpipes...

oic
yeah, ive head bad things bout their dp aswell
you can always hit up your local exhaust shop for a custom dp. probably wouldn't be too expensive

already did, 500+$
if its custom made they have to weld and everything, so its expensive, should i just get a 3" cti ill probably be over 285 whp with 300+ torque
tdipowered 02-17-2009, 04:37 AM cool cant wait for mine to get here
ajjaro 02-17-2009, 04:43 AM it looks good man, they electro polished it, too bad i cant show this piece off its an impress header, much lighter than i thought it would be. tdi are you gonna dyno with just the header in?

ssweeet 02-17-2009, 01:46 PM i haven't heard anything on mine either... it is killing me if i at least knew the date it would arrive i'd be okay with that
I'd be fine with knowing the date it would arrive as well. I think the main thing it's taking so long is because it's from another country. But still, Toronto is only some 400 miles away from me. It shouldn't be taking this long.

ajjaro 02-18-2009, 04:58 PM mine came with a damaged gasket also...
its badly dented
andrew97 02-18-2009, 05:00 PM you guys think the gasket is still useable or should we get new ones? and how many of the header bolts did you guys get?

andrew97 02-18-2009, 05:14 PM For those in the states that received their header today, did your tracking information update?
no mine was not updated yet
ssweeet 02-18-2009, 06:23 PM Interesting...I'm on my way home from work posting on my iPhone. Can't wait to pull into my driveway. The suspense is killing me. My tracking information hasn't updated yet so there's a possibility it's there.
I'm at home now and it was at my doorstep as I expected. Man that would have been a letdown had it not been there and I would have waited until tomorrow. The header looks flawless. Bolts and washers were included and the gaskets were slightly bent and not as damaged as you guys had stated. I was able to bend them back to their original form.
Thanks JBP for a great product. Hopefully I'll be able to install by this weekend if my local shop is available.

are you installing it with a dp exhaust? or bolting it to your stock system?

Currently I have the CA V2 Header, XTC 2.5" downpipe, and Megan Catback already installed. I'm swapping my CA V2 Header for the JBP
Noir_Destruction 02-18-2009, 11:21 PM well i'm glad to hear everyone else got theres today... i'm really hoping for tomorrow... friday at the latest... did i gather information correctly that usps just dropped the box off they didn't require a signiture to deliever the box?

More than likely not. USPS doesn't usually have you sign for anything. They just drop it off at your doorstep.
Wolf117 02-19-2009, 01:27 AM i hope mine comes in tomorrow! dam, why does arizona have to be so far from canada

yeah, thats what iv been hearing haha
question tho how many bolts and washers are supposed to come with it?
There should be 9 hex bolts and 9 washers with it. The lower center stud and nut are reused to make it easier to hang.
ajjaro 02-19-2009, 02:40 PM i passed by alocal muffler shop today, they gave me an amazing price, their making me a 3 inch downpipe, installing my vortex header, with the downpipe and the magnflow high flow cat, exhaust... all for 385$ after tax canadian dollars
Rippin07 02-19-2009, 09:11 PM Okay, I recieved the header but my car is in storage and Raptors also got one, we just finished the install on his.
First, this is no joke, it is easy to put on and we did it with the car on the floor. 2.5hrs total time.
We installed this on his 07 Ion redline. Keep in mind that there is slightly more room on the Cobalt SS, and there is alot of clearance room for the header, nowhere near the firewall, no cutting or wrapping of primaries....GREAT JOB JBP!!
1. As per instructions, remove valve cover to gain extra clearance for hands. Remove the down pipe and exhaust manifold, pretty straight forward.
2. Do not remove the half shaft, not necessary, just slip the header in upside down (downpipe flange up first / head flange facing front of car) pivot it up on the passenger side and up it goes, once past the half shaft, rotate the header into its proper position for the flange to face up.
3. I highly recommend doing this, a little patience required. Keep the studs in the head, Only remove a stud if it interfers in installation, but reinstall after header is on!! Trim a 1/4" off the nut end of the# 2 primary lower stud (this one is directly behind a tube and is the only hard one to do)( almost impossible using the supplied cap bolts) We installed the header with 6 of the nine studs in place!! Then proceeded to install another stud and only used 2 cap bolts. Could have used all 9 but 2 were no good.
4. Install header gasket / NOTE.... before putting header up onto studs, tweak the A/C line that is in a C bend on the firewall, just slightly bend line to go up for clearance... BE CAREFUL!! and GENTLE!!
5. Install header onto studs and start threading on the old lock nuts/ now only put them on for a few threads and continue to install all the other header studs or supplied cap bolts.
6. When all the cap bolts/ studs are installed, tighten down from the center out, this will ensure the header stays even and flat on the mating surface.
7. Install your valve cover and be careful to make sure your ground strap on the driver side stays out from under the valve cover!! I have seen this more times than I want to count!!!
8. Install components, ( the PCV vent hose has two 13mm bolts, acutally one bolt one stud, only the bolt will but used on the passenger side of the valve cover, you will have to get a shorter 13mm for the other bracket as a header tube is too close to install the stud.) Install the O2 sensor and downpipe gaskets, tighten and start the vehicle check for leaks.... After the engine has warmed up, let it cool and go over the bolts to ensure they remained tight after the first heat cycle.
9. Enjoy your new header!!!!
Raptors says it has slightly better throttle response in the midrange and figures there is definetly more power, we will be putting the car on the dyno as soon as is possible. As for sound there is more growl under throttle and the pitch changed slightly but the car is still very quiet.
Keep in mind this car still retains the stock downpipe and catback. With the exhuast completely stock the car was putting just over 260whp down. We will dyno on the same dyno and log the same parameters, meaning IATs will be duplicated (IAT 2 ) when making the pulls. No tuning will take place to have a fair and accurate representation of the headers ability to make gains with just a bolt on application.
Also note that the header is installed on a modified car putting decent power to the ground so gains may not be representative to installation on a stock LSJ... Meaning it should make a bigger difference on a modded car. But gains are gains right..... I will see if we can get the car on the dyno early next week as Raptors is leaving town tomorrow.
Oh, it looks freakin sweet under the hood!!!!
I will put this disclaimer in here: I am an Auto tech and have done alot of performance work over the years, so I found this easy, however I feel anyone can do it, just take your time and take a break if needed. It will be easier after you take that break. Sorry for no pics as this install just seemed to happen out of the blue.

nice dude, thanks for the info. :twothumbs
ajjaro 02-20-2009, 01:08 AM yup, the muffler is a weld-in, im hoping for 15whp
raptors_67 02-20-2009, 11:45 AM Yeah I wasn't really planning on doing it either but we were slow at the shop so I figured I'd work on it while I helped the few customers that were in that day. The hardest part is just having patience to get all the bolts/studs in because a lot of the primaries are in the way. Has anyone asked for pictures of it installed? I can snap a few if anyone's interested.
ls1fbody 02-20-2009, 11:49 AM please do, and use imagetree or this site to host it. Any and every angle you can get.
tdipowered 02-20-2009, 03:39 PM ok i just got mine do i need to get header wrap?
raptors_67 02-20-2009, 04:04 PM I will bring the car in the shop tonight and snap some pics.... ill even take some from underneath if you guys want. I didn't have to use any header wrap on my redline and there should be more clearance on the cobalts so I would say no. I really like the way this thing sounds. I was worried it would be loud and annoying. It's no louder than stock, a little different sound and has a bit of a mean growl too it.
tdipowered 02-20-2009, 04:59 PM ok i just got mine do i need to get header wrap?
anyone?
bowtie32 02-20-2009, 05:17 PM thanks for the info rippin07

maybe read the post right after your first one there?
Rippin07 02-20-2009, 06:58 PM No header wrap is needed, there is plenty of clearance.
Noir_Destruction 02-20-2009, 09:40 PM got mine today and the box was all smashed and trashed despite the fragile sticker... gasket was folded almost completely in half and only got 1 bolt and 1 washer so i e-mailed jbp and they said they'd send new ones out for me asap... AWESOME SERVICE!! cause i know it wasn't there fault!!!
ssyellowss 02-20-2009, 09:49 PM mine was a nice neat box from ups, then i opened it and it was a completely trashed box that the header was in. gaskets ok but i figured it would have came with studs for the downpipe?

ajjaro 02-21-2009, 02:37 AM so the whole steup is on including the header, the car si definetly more powerful, but my fuel economy went down drastically and my new magnaflow high flow cat sounds like my stock cat when it was busted? it buzzes under any acceleration, is that how a high flow cat is supposed to sound like?

nope, i wasnt flooring it , i was crusing at 65 on cruise control i reset my mpg meter, i was only doing 23 mpg at 65?
when i was at 3/4 throttle it would go down to 5
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:17 AM nope, i wasnt flooring it , i was crusing at 65 on cruise control i reset my mpg meter, i was only doing 23 mpg at 65?

get your car tuned for the header
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 03:18 AM im not sure if that would be worth the price, im adding the ottp intake when it comes out, + stage kit and meth by may, i dont really want to pay fot multiple tunes, do youn think its necessary?
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:31 AM no, its not neccessary, but it would help a little bit, i'd say just wait and gat a tune after you have all of it installed
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 03:32 AM ye thats what i was leaning towards, tell me something, i dont know if you know the answer or not, but is a header downpipe exhaust and intake comparable int power to a stock with only stage 2?
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:37 AM i don't think so, you might gain 30 hp tops i would imagine with those mods
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 03:39 AM ill have to ask jbp for a copy of those dyno results, 31.2 whp with the vortex header jbp intake and exhaust, (stock downpipe), whats your opinion on that?
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:43 AM well maybe you'll have a lil more than 30hp if theres was on stock dp, but i though they used their dp...
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 03:46 AM i dont think they did, when the vortex header was advertised to add 31.2 whp, it said next to it with jbp exhaust and intake... it didnt mention downpipe. if they did use it they didnt advertise that.
so my cat buzzing under acceleration is normal for a high flow cat?
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:49 AM um, i dont know(i still have stock exhaust) but i believe that is why a lot of people dont like the zzp dp was cuz it did that
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 03:53 AM well its not zp, but it is a cheap one, its 180$ 3" stainless steel from a muffler shop, the cat is magnaflow. these guys were a little too cocky for my taste, i todl them they should follow the instruction book for the header, thats the only way it would fit, they said their pros and they dont need it, 3 hours later they call me to tell me this header was designed to be too big for the cobalt and theres no way it would fit, so they had to cut into the fire wall and make some other mods
Wolf117 02-21-2009, 03:57 AM what site do you use for tracking? canadapost.ca says its not longer in canada anymore as of like the 12th and i still havent gotten it
ls1fbody 02-21-2009, 04:53 AM well its not zp, but it is a cheap one, its 180$ 3" stainless steel from a muffler shop, the cat is magnaflow. these guys were a little too cocky for my taste, i todl them they should follow the instruction book for the header, thats the only way it would fit, they said their pros and they dont need it, 3 hours later they call me to tell me this header was designed to be too big for the cobalt and theres no way it would fit, so they had to cut into the fire wall and make some other mods
that is ridiculous, it will fit without modification.
Rippin07 02-21-2009, 09:53 AM WHOA!!!!! WTF??? proffesionals my ass!! That header fits with lots of clearance and no mods whatsoever!!! If they cut anything I would be absolutely going wild if I was you!! The redline has less room to the firewall than the cobalt and it has alot of clearance at the rear.
As for the high flow cat, no they do not buzz, especially not a real high flow cat, I have installed probably about 50 of them into custom exhausts and never have we had one buzz.
Your mileage going down is a huge concern, as when raptors comes on here he will tell you that he is finding his mileage has increased slightly and is going on a trip this weekend and will verify if it has or not. I would look to see if they screwed up the location of the primary O2 sensor, do you have a wideband and did they switch that sensor with the primary???? OR you probably are driving it a little more aggressively.
Raptors took pics last night from above and below to post for you guys.
raptors_67 02-21-2009, 11:34 AM I've got 4 pictures in my control panel, havent taken the time to figure out the whole posting those pics into threads. No leaks and looks great. I can feel a power increase but I dunno if it's worth 31 HP, I know I can feel the difference in torque. I'll let ya know on mileage this weekend.
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 01:28 PM ill have to have it inspected, maybe magnaflwo gave me a faulty cat because it buzzes like a cracked one
coopn8r 02-21-2009, 01:40 PM Lol.. Did you give them the downpipe to install or did THEY order the downpipe for you...If they ordered it.. Make sure it IS a magnaflow.. They're not supposed to BUZZ at all.. I don't know why they would cut in your firewall.. I would be ripping some asses, bro.
daythecountrydied21 02-21-2009, 01:43 PM well its not zp, but it is a cheap one, its 180$ 3" stainless steel from a muffler shop, the cat is magnaflow. these guys were a little too cocky for my taste, i todl them they should follow the instruction book for the header, thats the only way it would fit, they said their pros and they dont need it, 3 hours later they call me to tell me this header was designed to be too big for the cobalt and theres no way it would fit, so they had to cut into the fire wall and make some other mods
this is why you dont go to corporate shops, you go to smaller family owned places.
the corporate shops tend to think they know it all and are some of the cockiest fuckers i've ever seen.
I made that mistake with my old car and will not make it again.
ajjaro 02-21-2009, 01:45 PM ye im going to on monday, but i need to know all i can so i know what to tell them, they made the downpipe, the cat is magnaflow, so whats the downside to cutting into the firewall, and i think they said theyh wrapped the header...
daythecountrydied21 02-21-2009, 01:46 PM personally i'd threaten to sue them for making alterations to your car that you did not give consent to.
unless you already signed a paper saying that everything was handy and dandy.
Rippin07 02-21-2009, 01:48 PM well, the downside is first, it doesnt need to be done!! Second it doesnt need to be done!!! As for the wrap, thats fine if thats what they wanted to do but it doesnt need to be done!! Why dont you take some pics of your install and post everything so that we can see this install and pics of the downpipe they built.
Why dont you just look under you hood???? if they wrapped it you would you see it. How can you not know this??
tdipowered 02-21-2009, 02:25 PM lol mine was in a tomatoe box and a gm parts box taped together
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:12 PM personally i'd threaten to sue them for making alterations to your car that you did not give consent to.

actually he did consent to them cutting the firewall
daythecountrydied21 02-21-2009, 03:46 PM actually he did consent to them cutting the firewall
he never said that..
i know i took my old car to monroe to get a muffler estimate, i look out in the shop and next thing i know i see sparks flying...i look at the guy in the office and he has the deer in the headlights shitface on and i'm just like if this is over 75 you're going to be sorry...
at that place you consented to the work done after you paid for it and signed the sheet, not prior, any alterations should and must be taken up with the customer before being put into actual action..
RooTBeeR 02-21-2009, 03:56 PM oh, yeah nevermind....reading>me
ajjaro 02-22-2009, 06:02 AM the fuel economy is fine now, it was horrible after the install, i dont know why, you guys will, experience>me. the check engine light is still on, but they are sure they installed the o2 sensor properly
Rippin07 02-23-2009, 05:15 PM Okay, now that my wallet has had a chance to recover after this group buy, it would sure be nice to see a Downpipe GB on the JBP ones.
How about it JBP? I seen someone had already mentioned it. Any chances?
bowtie32 your header went out yesterday the way we discussed.
ajjaro;
As for cutting the firewall and CEL, you may want to have another shop look into it.
There is no reason to cut the firewall, for this or any other header.
Our header will NOT set a CEL, leading me to believe they have messed up something else on your car.
bowtie32 02-24-2009, 01:23 PM Thanks JBP. Can't wait so I can also instal my SLP dual exhaust. It's beautiful.
Rippin07 02-24-2009, 01:28 PM I will have Raptors car on the dyno this week, wed. or thursday night to verify the gains from a bolt on install only as previously discussed. Remember, stock down pipe and cat back still on the car.

cant wait!
ssweeet 02-24-2009, 04:45 PM Header is installed. Just got the car back from a local exhaust shop. After having the car gone since early Saturday morning, I can honestly say that this header was well worth the money and wait. The car pulls much harder in the low end and the sound is absolutely similar to a WRX or STi. Even my friend who owns and STi agrees. He's actually quite jealous of my setup.
bowtie32 02-24-2009, 04:56 PM STI's sound great. And now with cobalts sounding like that people are going to trip.
Noir_Destruction 02-24-2009, 07:28 PM on my mating surface right next to #4 primary there is a "slit" machined in.... what is this for and please tell me it is suppose to be there!
ssweeet 02-24-2009, 08:40 PM It's on every header. If you look in the stock headed it's on there too. It's almost like a curve if I'm correct. It's there so you can match up the header to the motor. I think it's on the motor too.
Noir_Destruction 02-24-2009, 08:43 PM wow weird... almost looks like someone got careless with a router lol
andrew97 02-25-2009, 12:11 AM just put the header on tonight only took 2 hours...all i can say is wow about the sound....def right about the sti sound...its perfect tho not to loud at low rpm and sounds great all the way through the gear.
elecblue06 02-25-2009, 12:37 AM Sound Clliiipppsss
andrew97 02-25-2009, 12:47 AM working on it tomorrow didnt wanna piss the new neighbors off just yet
saunders1986 02-25-2009, 12:55 AM i cant wait for more sound clips :)
ajjaro 02-25-2009, 01:01 AM i just did a fly by on my friends modded jetta, his words "your car sounds like the god of thunder"
thats with header, downpipe, exhaust
Nickster914 02-25-2009, 10:55 PM Wow this header sounds amazing, I would love to get one eventually. x1,000,000,000 on the sound clips
bowtie32 02-26-2009, 12:51 AM Just got the header already. That was quick. Thanks JBP for a great quality header. I look forward into getting my head built by u guys in a few months.
