has anyone used avon brand tires before? i was thinking about the avon tech M550 A/S but i've never even heard of the brand, despite their great ratings on tire rack..

Avon is owned by Cooper Tire. It is their European division.

I have had Avon's on my motorcycles before, no problems at all.

The don't come in 215/45/18 however, unless you were gonna do 225/40/18.

 

A buddy of mine had Avon's on his 6.0L GTO for the end of last season. He just replaced them with Fusions for this season becasue large chunks of rubber were coming off of them. When I say large chunks I'm talking candy corn size pieces. The man does about 20 road course track events per summer and generally goes through 2 sets of tires doing this. I know they were put to the test.

 

would 225/40/18 fit without problems?

I looked at them but decide to go with the BFG tires as they seamd to be much beter. And im vary happy with them.
