there is a key relearn procedure that supposedly takes 30 minutes to do, but I have not tried it (haven't needed to) but here it is and I hope it works (assuming that is the issue) turn the key to ON Pause for a second, try to start car buy turning key HOLD @ start position and WATCH the security message on the dash when it goes out turn key to off (takes about 10 minutes), wait 5 seconds then repeat 2 more times, after the 3rd time go from off to start to off with out holding as before, then try to start car and it should start.

A friend of mine told me if the security keeps it from starting you can do what tsunami said .I havent tried it though he used it on an impala he was working on . When you do get it started i wouldnt turn it off till you get somewhere where you can figure out what the problem is.
found this off the web worth a try. Crank the car. When it does not start leave the key in the ON position for ten minutes. After 10 minutes the SECURITY light will go off. When this happens turn the key to the OFF position. Wait 5 seconds and then start the car. It is not the most convenient remedy but it will prevent you from being stranded. I hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem

Did the car honk three times when you unlocked it?

no i tried that methose the 10 min wait one.
apparently that is for remaping the key if your car wont read it.
mine on the other hand thinks its been stolen so the immobilizer is turned on. (what gm canada told me) so they covered my towing thanks warrenty. but im stuck in a different province.
i was hoping that there was a secret handbrake code like in the hondas to get this thing off so i can actually drive the car i purchased for lots of money to get me places reliably....

ok so i got back from the dealer - the fuse number 16 blew out- for a cause unknown, they tried to fin the short but didnt. so they gave me extra fuses to make it to new-brunswick. because it blew again at the dealer. so im not sure how reliable this is. now i have a whole new problem,
it was hVAC AND ING fuse.
