well after kicking the idea around between a solstice or a balt. i decided for the balt;).

So after i buy im going to set some cash to the side for performance modification. The cobalt will be used mostly for a daily driver so i do not want to sacrifice reliability but i imagine 300whp could be achievable and safe for daily driving with this car. from what iv heard these ecotec motors can handle quite a load :).

So what do you reccomend to get to 300whp safley? if i can get more without serious engine internal upgrades ill take it

Id say an intake and exhaust for a nice sound. There are several STOCK TC's with a good tune only getting 300hp!

It's way cheaper, better looking...you gain two seats....I think he made the right choice. Besides....Those cars just scream mid-life crisis to me! Cobalt FTW

with the mods I have like Hahn's test car...he dyno'd 322WHP and 361WTQ. I doubt I'm the highest but I think there are only one or two cars (at least 09's) with as many bolt ons. Hahn suggests that the turbo is likely maxed out with these #'s (23 peak PSI tune)

Save your money and buy my nearly brand new SS supercharged. It already is modded, so you won't have to spend money on that. GM performance exhaust, GM stage II, GM performance manifold, Exedy Stage 3 clutch and flywheel, B&M short throw shifter, ZZP 3" down pipe with high flow cat. An easy 3-4 grand in parts. All safe power adders in perfect shape. My SS only has 9,200 some miles on it. Its garage kept, and never seen snow or bad weather. Its mint. Recaro racing seats to with the G85 performance package. Sunroof, XM radio, Subwoofer, fully loaded with every option available, including OnStar! I'm only asking 14k. Send me a PM if you want, or check my thread out. Just click the for sale link in my sig.

The GM Stage kit will get you ~290hp and 340ft-lbs (specs for the cobalt aren't released yet, but they are for the solstice, hhr, etc). The kit will only run you ~$750 INSTALLED by the dealer! I would do that first, it'll get you close to your goals, and make any future mods more effective since it gets rid of the ECU's ability to 'dumb down' your mods (it slowly readjusts engine parameters to keep the HP level the same, so it basically makes any mods you do ineffective unless you get an aftermarket tune). With the stage kit however, the car will no longer re-tune itself to keep the HP at a stock level.

so does the stage kit from gm actually tune it? or is it basically just a seperate performance upgrade, then you can tune it to get well over 300?

GM Tune DOES tune it. Do a little searchy search in the 2.0T Performance section to find more info.

The GM stage kit adds some parts (sensors) and reflashes the EUC, so yeah, it's sort of a new tune. The nice thing is that it's all covered under warranty.
