Theres stuff on ecotecforum, com member DaFlyinSkwirl (there and here) has an MSD setup.
domesticimportls 01-21-2009, 10:56 AM ok man thank you.. wheres the setup on here?

our stock coils are fine.... there are a lot of 400whp ecotecs running stock ignition systems other than swapping plugs...in fact, thats how most of them run.

How many of those 400whp ECOs are L61s???
L61 cassette is a relative weak point.

hmm....tu chet my good sir. I thought the old cavis and sunfires used the stock ignition system though...i know theres several in the 400whp mark... are they running MSDs?
i dont see why the MSD sytem is needed at our power levels, hell if your making 400+hp first make sure the stock coil cant handle it, i mean if its not broken why fix it? if it wont break why change it?
Maven 01-21-2009, 06:23 PM If it wont break why fix it? They break on STOCK cars all the time, the ICM and to a lesser extent the coil pack is probably the most failure prone part on 05/06 L61 Balts

Didnt notice the year, i wanted to do something about the 07/08 coils but i was told that there wasnt much to do

Nah, our ignition system is a lot , ummmmm, "beefier" than 1st Gen L61s Youd have to be making serious power or massive revs to truly need an upgrade
06_ion2 01-22-2009, 12:45 PM so my coil could still support 400hp with a 7k redline? if not im going to be pissed ive already spent too much :(

06 L61 7,000 rpm boosted to 20 or more psi is asking a lot from the stock ignition.:(
I'm going to push 15psi on mine, that should get me to ~200+whp, but I'm not going to rev that high

yeah im trying for 21psi 7k rev limit with a 2.55 pulley on a P-1sc procharger it should be flowing close to 800-900 cfm ;) i hope it will work.. i have 67k miles on my origional ignition so well see if it lasts much longer..
