View Full Version : Pic request: light window tint
mcphatty 01-23-2009, 09:48 AM I want to have my windows done, but i'm unsure about lighter tint.
Post up your pictures of your tint, but keep in mind I dont want anything darker than 35% all the way around.
06CobaltssOrange 01-23-2009, 11:17 AM anything lighter than 35% is like factory tint just doesnt look good go with like 25% thats what i had on my two sides and i was never pulled over.
mcphatty 01-23-2009, 11:18 AM my concern isnt being pulled over, i dont want dark tint, i prefer some visibility
Black08SSTC 01-23-2009, 11:36 AM I had 20% on my 07 2.2 and i like it alot. Easy to see out of during the day however at night were i live little street lights so it was sort of difficult. I believe im going to try to get 25% on my 08 or maybe even 30%. I think regular tints are 2%, 5%, 20%, 35%, and 50%. Some people can make custom tints though.
mcphatty 01-23-2009, 11:40 AM i'm hoping to find something between 35% and 50%
50 seems too light but 35 is just a tad too dark for what i want
Black08SSTC 01-23-2009, 11:43 AM yea, thats how i feel about the difference between 20% and 35% i like the look of 20 but its just too dark and 35 is alittle too light. I think you will be pleased with 35 IMO.
this is my 2.2LT with 20%

mcphatty 01-23-2009, 11:44 AM another downside about having a black car- even light tint looks dark
TheCaptain 01-23-2009, 12:46 PM My Caprice, 35% tint (except windshield)

Its wonderfull during the day but sucks at night lol.
mcphatty 01-23-2009, 03:21 PM yep, you definitely cant read instructions.
that caprice doesnt look bad though, i thought with 35 all the way around it would look much darker. how's visibility at night?
TheCaptain 01-23-2009, 03:51 PM Visibility is great. I actually barely tell its on there looking out at night. Looking in it does darken up at night. I would go 20% next time though, just a shade darker, and visibility is still good at night. I have 20% on my Cobalt, and it doesn't bother my visibility much.
SlateSedan 01-25-2009, 06:29 PM Here is my car. 23% on back windshield, and 35% down the sides. People ask why I went with a darker shade on the back windshield, and it's due to when looking from the back of the car through the glass, you see through the front windshield which makes the tint look lighter. When you look through the sides, you see window tint on the other side of the car. Make sense? If you walk around my car the windows look like they match in terms of which grade of tint.
