depends on power goals. If you want 260whp or less, supercharging is probably the easier/cheaper route. If yo want more than that, Turbo is probably a better route.

its easier to just get a big supercharger (TVS) or a big turbocharger (gt30XX and bigger), than run smaller versions of both

Why? You interested in buying some goodies to Supercharge your car?

I'll sell you my parts cheap.

I'd say its a toss up. With stock internals, your limited to ~240-250 whp before you risk some serious engine failures. A small turbo, OR a M62 could both make that kinda power pretty easily, so its up to you... You could also go... Twin turbo....

Supercharging is much easier, safer, and cheaper. No need to throw a turbo on if you're not going to touch the internals.

If you are interested in my S/C parts... you'd better move fast. The Majority of the $$$ parts you will need, I am selling. There are a lot of people shooting me offers. First one to send the cash, wins.

A good rule of thumb is tc for small engines, sc for big ones. I would personally say turbo, since its only 2.2L and you dont have a lot of power to work with from the get go, but alot of people may disagree. Remeber SC is instant power, TC is lag then power. But, SC turbine will not spin as fast as a TC turbine will. Also a SC will steal some of your actual engine HP when a turbo does not. But a SC is loads cheaper than a TC.

SO basically
Financially-SC>TC
Power Speed-SC>TC
Ease OF Install-SC>TC
More HP-TC>SC

lag can be unnoticeable if you know how to size the application correctly/ can tune well

Very true regarding lag. Best solution IMO is 2 turbos, 1 very small, 1 very large. Lag free, Maximum boost...whoosh-WHOOSH!!!

i only know of one sequential turbo cobalt...and lets just say its been under construction for a while.... It doesnt work as well in 4 cyl applications as it does V8 applications... more than one turbo gets tricky with only one bank of cylinders

I think I know of the car ur talking about. Thread has been going on for like 2 yrs right? I guess you could always run a smaller turbo, and upgrade the wheel. It sucks you have to suffer from lag just because of a bigger a turbo, but a bigger turbo is needed for more HP...sad, so sad...

The reason that project went on so long, was the failure of the SHOP (JBP), and not because it was such a hard thing to do.

Marine Corps Fail

Maybe I'll see you there. I'm slated to go to eRock for Winter 09... but from what Obama is saying, we might get moved over to the Afgan.

I've been in 5.5 years. Supposed to be getting out June 2009... this year!!!

But... my unit is "retaining" me and sending me to eRock.

And that plate is the only thing USMC on the car. I like to think it keeps me from getting sooo many tickets. Hahaha.
