I test drove an 09 TC and i found that it is either really difficult or impossible to do. I didnt think it was going to be possible. Do any of you do it or know how it?

are you talking about brake boosting?

its more of the palm of your foot though, practice you'll get good

You mean to downshift and match revs? Definately possible, and not that hard IMO. Requires a little driver skill, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I have never done it, but my brothers buddy is a huge autox guy and i was telling him about how well it handles blah blah and i let him drive it and he said the same thing

Did he say why? I used to do it all the time in my car, and had no problem just hopping right in an SS/TC and doing it.

I heel toe every day when i drive my SC, its actually very easy in these cars. I can't see the TC having radically different pedal placement.

What i think the problem is, is people not having the correct seat position. Too many people (not anyone specific) drive sitting way too far back from the steering wheel.

you should be able to touch the firewall behind the brake pedal with your right foot, and keep a slight bend in your knee.

Well in my Camaro its quite easy. With my aftermarket pedals all i have to do it shift the right side of my toes over, while keeping the left side on the brake. When i press the brake in the Camaro, the pedals almost line up perfectly.

But in the TC i thought that the gas pedal was set in too far and that i wouldnt be able to reach it unless i was HARD on that brake pedal.

i tried a few times, and found it very hard. the brake is too high over the gas pedal, especially in light braking. i don't really auto-x, had no reason to practice so i didn't. i'm sure with practice it would get easier.

You guys are using the right side of your foot to tap the gas, not actually using your heel to press the brake and toes on the gas, right? It's not technically 'heel-toe', but its the same thing. Unless you have very tiny feet, most people can't do the true heel-toe placement, it's more "left side-right side of foot"

ABSOLUTELY that's the problem right there. I can't do it. I can't even touch the gas with my heel even if I just barely have my toe on the brake.

Yea thats what i was afraid of. Is there anyway to adjust the pedal position?

He just said that the pedals where to far apart or somthing

Just like that guy said, its more like tipping your foot instead of pivoting your toes. And the fact that the gas is set deeper than the brake actually makes it easier, when you are on the brake the gas is right there. I have a buddy with a 93 da integra and he heel-toes all the time also.. and he likes my car's pedal placement much more. when the pedals are even when not pressed, then you have to lift your foot onto the gas when on the brakes.

also I have some cheap pedal covers on the brake and gas, form autozone, kinda look like the gmp pedals without the rubber inserts. but these are wider and attached to the existing pedals, so it slightly decreases the distance between them.

Nothing DIY. My racing instructor said he'd adjust it for me, I just have to get my butt to his shop. I'd never ever trust myself to do it.

But when your foot just ain't big enough, it just ain't big enough. I would like the gas to still be lower, but the way it is now, there's no way to reach it. If I pivot my toes I can ALMOST touch the gas, if I tip my foot it drops between the pedals and doesn't come anywhere NEAR the proper pedal.

I always brake with just a little bit of my right foot anyways, ready for the gas.

Heel-toe downshifting is a way to quickly and smoothly transition from one gear to a lower gear. Right foot on brake, and while you shift from say third to second, you tap the throttle by pivoting or twisting your foot that is on the brake. this increases the rpms, matching it to the higher rpms of the lower gear. anyone else that prefers to be more technical about it, be my guest.

I do it all the time, and rev-matching. Its funny... the rev-sounding noise is in so many movies and whatnot, when a nice car pulls up. But how many people know what that is, or rather how to do it? Maybe no one else has noticed this....

Heel- Toe is where you use the heel of your foot to blip the gas pedal while the toe end of your foot is pressing the brake. Its a way to rev your engine to match the higher RPM of a lower gear while downshifting say into a corner or coming up to a light. It also makes downshifting very easy on your trasnmission and clutch.

Its kinda hard to explain if youve never seen it before. Try to work it out with your hand or just YouTube it. There are a million videos of Asians doing it.

TC pedal placement is just about perfect for heal & toe downshifting; engine is super easy to rev match. Very, very easy to be smooth in this car.

Unless you guys were going to be around the same place later that day. I dont plan on being with Muscle all day long.

Actually I might go to your meet first. Yours starts at 11. The muscle meet doesnt start until 2 and I am only half an hr. away from yours and about 10 mins from mine. So i might just chill with you guys for a few hrs. then bail to the muscle meet.
